MEGI Engineering Inc. is a full-service engineering design and consulting firm located in Portland, OR serving the pulp and paper, industrial, power and utility, and chemical markets. As a junior piping designer, the successful candidate must be competent in drafting principles and procedures in performing basic engineering drafting work. Coordinate with interdisciplinary design group team members to develop drawings and models utilizing Quality Standards, Operations Drafting/Design Standards and Department Standards and Procedures.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • 3D modeling of piping and equipment in a 3D model environment,
  • Preparation of drawings/documents for P&IDs, General Arrangements, Orthographics, and piping Isometrics drawings,
  • Develop piping detail sheets,
  • Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other disciplines,
  • Assists with plans and schedules and prepares/maintains design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents,
  • Interface with stress and pipe support engineers, construction, and suppliers during the preparation of piping designs for the purpose of model/space control, etc.,
  • Development of Piping Line Lists, Tie-In Lists, and Specialty Item Lists,
  • Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others.


QUALIFICATIONS / QUALITIES


  • AA/AS in drafting/design or BS in an engineering curriculum or drafting/design with 2 years experience, in lieu of a degree 6 years of relevant experience,
  • Hands-on experience using in a spec-driven 3D piping design platform,
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents,
  • The ability to communicate detailed information to both client and project team,
  • Extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D AutoCAD software. AutoCAD Plant 3D experience is a plus,
  • Candidate should possess knowledge of applicable codes such as ASME and API,
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy,
  • US Citizenship and Valid US Driver’s License.


Typical duties will be performed in an office environment with occasional field trips to operating facilities or construction sites. This requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, computer data entry, normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting 25 pounds may be required.

Salary and benefits negotiable based on level of experience and the agreed upon responsibilities.
