The Emergency Management Intern is resource on the Emergency Management and Fire & Life Safety team at Cone Health. This position reports to the Director of Emergency Management and provides administrative, technical assistance and programmatic support for the Emergency Management program.
The Emergency Management Intern will assist Emergency Management and Fire & Life Safety Coordinators on special project coordination, emergency plans and training, and maintenance of communication tools. The Emergency Management Intern will receive hands-on experience, as they will be fully integrated and assigned to projects related to Cone Health’s Emergency Management Program.
This internship position is a time-limited, temporary position and must conclude by 12/13/24 (with a start date and orientation on 09/09/24). The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours.

Responsibilities
The role of the Emergency Management Intern at Cone Health is to:
Work with Emergency Management Director to assist in providing technical support and assistance to Cone Health in the planning process for emergency operations, business continuity, hazard-specific response plans, and regulatory and auditing requirements pertinent to emergency management.
Work with Emergency Management and Fire & Life Safety Coordinators to visit with Cone Health staff and conduct interviews to strengthen health center activities that successfully build organizational and community resiliency.
Work with Emergency Management team to facilitate training and make updates to mass communication systems (Cone Health Safe Alerts, AlertMedia).
Research primary care health center current emergency preparedness needs during disaster and non-disaster.
Assist in compiling emergency management-related materials and distributing to health center staff as requested.
In conjunction with Emergency Management Director, attend various local disaster planning meetings.
Draft template plans, policies, and procedures for Cone Health under direct or indirect supervision.
The result of the emergency management intern’s work are models and insights that can be implemented to improve the emergency management program.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:Required:
Senior, graduate student, or recent graduate from any of the following degrees: emergency management, public administration, healthcare administration, public health, disaster management, disaster preparedness or business continuity.
