Job Summary: The Human Factors Engineer - TS I will assist in the planning, coordination, and performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering, supporting the development and production of cutting-edge products and services. This role will require collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to integrate human factors requirements into system designs.
Responsibilities:
Trade Studies & Recommendations:
Conduct trade studies on system design concepts.
Present human factors requirement recommendations to multidisciplinary teams.
Simulation Evaluations:
Design part task simulation evaluations using software, physical mockups, or predictive modeling tools.
Prepare, develop, and execute part task and/or simulator or flight test plans.
Human Factors Compliance:
Create operational tests to demonstrate compliance with human factors regulations.
Document certification testing in final engineering reports.
Data Analysis & Modeling:
Apply descriptive or inferential statistics for data analysis.
Provide project recommendations in selecting and applying appropriate anthropometric modeling tools.
Standards & Guides Development:
Utilize industry and regulatory design guidance to support design aspects.
Develop standards and guides for human factors methods.
Project Support:
Contribute to the planning, development, and coordination of important engineering projects.
Provide specialized technical assistance to team members.
Act as liaison with representatives outside the assigned group/area.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in basic research methods and the use of human subjects in evaluations and experiments.
Strong communication skills to convey technical and non-technical concepts clearly in both written and verbal formats.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry.
Familiarity with advanced task analysis methods, biomechanics, and time study theories.
Knowledge of sensation and perception research.
Experience with simulation software (e.g., CATIA V5 Human Builder, 3DSSPP, iData) and requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS).
Understanding of Lean Six Sigma philosophies.
Flying experience (e.g., Private Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License, Airline Transport Pilot).
Education and Experience Requirements:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.
Advanced degrees in engineering are preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a specific technical discipline or 10 years of broad engineering experience in multiple disciplines.
Experience credit for related advanced degrees: up to 2 years for a Master's and up to 4 years for a Ph.D.
Additional Functions:
Continuously improve daily processes to ensure all work meets customer requirements.
Stay current with developments in human factors and related fields.
Perform other duties as assigned.
