We're seeking a passionate Human Factors Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, MA. In this role, you'll collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop intuitive user interfaces for cutting-edge medical devices. Key responsibilities include leading usability testing, conducting user research, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative healthcare solutions with nationwide impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead usability testing to understand user needs and environments.
- Collect and analyze user behavior through various research methods.
- Develop designs and requirements for user interfaces.
- Support documentation for regulatory approval (e.g., 510k).
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including engineering, marketing, and quality.
- Incorporate human factors best practices into design processes.
- Define and document user interfaces for medical device products.
- Create and execute usability test protocols.
- Document test reports according to standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to patent disclosures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering or related field.
- 3 years of experience in GUI development and user research.
- Knowledge of ANSI HE75, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, and IEC 62366.
- Experience moderating user studies.
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
- Interest in medical device technologies.
- Portfolio showcasing relevant projects and skills.
- Ability to work in-office 3 days per week and remotely 2 days per week.
- Up to 10% travel nationwide.
- Clean valid state driver's license.
- M.S. or PhD in Human Factors Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in GUI development and user research, preferably in medical devices.
- Experience in software architecture and implementation.
- Proficiency with Balsamiq and Adobe XD.
- Familiarity with FDA guidelines.
