As the Senior Manager, Enterprise Competitive Insights role you will lead the development, project management, and communication of competitive research, as well as business insights associated with the company's growing scope of operations. You will be accountable for effectively integrating insights from multiple sources to form a holistic view of customers, markets, and competitors, while communicating insights effectively and continuously throughout the organization. In addition, you will be responsible for conducting research (qualitative and quantitative), while synthesizing those findings to meet strategic and tactical business needs at both an Enterprise and business unit level. You will also serve as a leader across the competitive insights team, requiring the need to coordinate and support interdepartmental cross-functional projects at both an Enterprise, segment and business unit level, deriving actionable insights to improve executive-level decision-making.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Manage, mentor and lead team of competitive intelligence professionals which can eventually assume further roles in the Enterprise strategy organization
Understanding broader health care ecosystem in order to effectively identify and strategically position competitive benchmarking projects associated with key department efforts, including quarterly financial roundtables, segment specific competitive analyses, and public company earnings distillation
Conducting thorough analysis of competitive activity across both traditional and emerging competitors, leveraging department tools to create robust assessments, including but not limited to NAIC statutory filings, insurance regulatory filings, and third-party data sources
Serve as primary delivery channel for Enterprise business areas within specific segments of the market, focused on all components of Competitive Insights
Ensure the Enterprise competitive insights team maintains a comprehensive understanding of the macroeconomic, regulatory, and market specific competitive activity influencing the company's positioning
Clearly illustrate market positioning across key product lines, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats with the role having a firmly established knowledge of key health insurance products, including key drivers of growth or decline, as well as strategic positioning of major competitors
Monitor emerging payor, transaction, and network activity to develop market and competitive assessments of trends that could impact operations
Maintain executive presence by hosting meetings with executive and senior leadership to disseminate analysis and understanding of data including business concepts
Establish collaborative business partner relationships including responding to requests for competitive intelligence project / analysis, as required
Develop clear, concise, and well-organized written communications with consultant-like quality, requiring minimal supervision
Demonstrate a capability to develop subject matter expertise around key competitors and market segments (e.g., Individual Under 65, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid)
Serve as budget coordinator for the competitive insights, remaining a point of contact for key vendors, assuming responsibility for subject matter expertise
What You Must Have:
Experience in health care, including direct experience in product management, performance, underwriting, financial analysis, and/or competitive intelligence
8+ years related work experience
3+ years direct supervisory/management experience
Bachelor's degree required or additional related work experience
Proven leadership and supervisory experience with excellent interpersonal skills
Track record in delivering results, while anticipating market and product changes based on market research
Preferred:
Master’s degree
Solid understanding of various aspects of the health insurance industry, including funding mechanisms and key strategies to enable winning in local markets (e.g., clinical asset ownership, TPA product strategies, etc.)
Previous experience in providing tactical support to business leaders to ensure success in go-to-market strategies, including direct experience in a managed care competitive intelligence leadership role
Experience associated with one or more of the following health care sub-sectors: Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Health Care Services, Clinical Assets, Behavioral Health, In-Home Care
