Summary

This position is responsible for the successful development and implementation of strategies to recruit, educate and engage employees to become active contributing members of Oncor’s political action committees. This individual will manage Oncor’s grassroots political network and also professionally represent Oncor/Governmental Affairs at political functions throughout the year.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Directly or through others, the incumbent:

  • Coordinate with management to plan, develop and implement immediate and long-range strategies to enhance employee participation and contribution to Oncor’s PACs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships within the Company that lead to financial support of the political process at the state level.
  • Ensure compliance with both federal and state laws and regulations. Responsible for accurate and timely monthly reporting to the Federal Election Commission, the Texas Ethics Commission and required reports with the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Review PAC related accounting procedures performed by Company accountants and coordinate with external auditors in performance of annual audits of all Oncor PAC financial records
  • Develop and manage the timing, scope and details of solicitation programs necessary to achieve maximum results for PAC membership and funds in accordance with Company and legal boundaries.
  • Direct/manage all Oncor political action committee (PAC) activities, events, tours to state Capitol and monitoring/coordinating the collection and disbursement of funds.
  • Communicate regularly to management regarding financial status and relevant facts/trends for all Company PACs.
  • Identify, develop and coordinate cross-functional approval of membership for Oncor PAC Steering Committees. Develop and implement training/educational programs to enhance PAC Steering Committee involvement and support.
  • Develop, coordinate and distribute all PAC communications, newsletters, campaign emails, contests, annual mail outs, etc. using Constant Contact, Outlook, Aristotle 360 (PAC database) or outside services as needed.
  • Manage and update PAC’s intranet website.
  • Develop and manage Oncor’s grassroots political networks.
  • Register as lobbyist and professionally represent Oncor/Governmental Affairs at various events with Oncor executives, legislators and staff, and others throughout the year, including during legislative session.
  • Moderate travel and other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree plus working knowledge of the Texas legislative process or previous work experience in political campaigns or fundraising experience is preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in political affairs, government relations, public policy or community related, corporate citizenship work, public relations or a related field.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the importance of participating in the political process to eligible employees.
  • PAC/Grassroots experience a plus.
  • Experience working with state governmental/regulatory bodies a plus.
  • Strong relationship building, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential.
  • Ability to travel and organize, prioritize and proactively manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication, as well as computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
