Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula

1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR, and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the

famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania

Insurance Amphitheater.

Exciting news is the addition of the new Theme Park we are adding to the COTA Entertainment

portfolio, and we are sourcing a lead role that will spearhead bringing this to life!

The Director of Theme Park Entertainment is a visionary leader who plays a pivotal role in bringing

our theme park to life! In this role, you will be responsible for curating a year-round calendar of

engaging entertainment experiences that will leave our guests with lasting memories. This

groundbreaking role will partner with executive leadership to cultivate and bring to life what the park

will become.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Entertainment Visionary

  • Develop a comprehensive entertainment strategy that aligns with the theme park’s brand and target audience.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends to identify innovative and exciting entertainment concepts.
  • Oversee the year-round entertainment calendar, ensuring a divers and engaging lineup of shows, events, and character interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with create teams to develop new and original entertainment experiences.

Expertise In Booking And Execution

  • Source, research, and negotiate contracts with talented performers, artists, and entertainment companies.
  • Manage the logistics of entertainment programs, including scheduling, rehearsals, and stage management.
  • Lead and oversee the smooth execution of all entertainment offerings, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for guests.

Marketing & Showmanship

  • Lead and collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns that generate excitement for upcoming entertainment programs.
  • Manage the design, production, and placement of marketing signage for entertainment offerings.
  • Cultivate a captivating atmosphere through music, sound effects, and visual elements that will enhance the overall entertainment experience.

Character Champion

  • Oversee the “character initiation” process for new costumed characters ensuring they embody the park’s brand and create magical moments for guests.
  • Manage character appearances, meet-and-greets, and autograph sessions ensuring positive guest interactions.
  • Develop engaging storylines and character interactions that bring the park’s theme to life.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage entertainment budgets, allocating resources effectively & efficiently.
  • Negotiate competitive rates with performers and vendors.
  • Track and analyze entertainment expenses.

Performance Analysis & Improvement

  • Monitor audience response to entertainment offerings and adjust programming accordingly.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of entertainment experiences.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the success of entertainment initiatives.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees across COTA, entertainers, agents, and other industry professionals.
  • Develop a network of contacts to source new talent and opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Arts Management, or a related field (MBA preferred)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the entertainment industry with a proven track record of creating and managing successful entertainment programs.
  • Strong understanding of theme park entertainment trends and audience preferences.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Budget management and financial planning experience.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, manage deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A passion for creating exceptional guest experiences and a commitment to delivering high quality entertainment.

Work Environment

  • Potentially loud environments
  • Campus field operations under various weather conditions
  • Work in large crowds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment (up to 50-75lbs.)
  • Stand, walk, climb stairs, and use hands for work.
