Director of Revenue Cycle – Home Health and Hospice

CommuniCare is experiencing rapid growth in our Home Health and Hospice divisions, and we are excited to expand our team to support the Revenue Cycle process as we bolster our existing operations. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join us as a Director of Revenue Cycle. This position reports to the CFO, Home Health and Hospice and will be based at our corporate office in Blue Ash, Ohio (suburb of Cincinnati).

Purpose/Belief Statement

The Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for meeting and exceeding established targets for three primary metrics: Cash Collections, Reduction of Bad Debt, and Reduction of Aged Accounts Receivable (AR). This role involves collaborating with multiple departments at the home office and in the field, directly interacting with multiple Home Health and Hospice locations to ensure daily operations achieve their highest yield, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring alignment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership, support, direction, and training.
  • Support Leadership to optimize revenue cycle results across the company.
  • Diagnose, evaluate, and develop corrective actions to optimize revenue cycle operations, making actionable recommendations supported by data analysis and metrics.
  • Identify the need for standardization and adoption of processes, reporting, and the revenue cycle model across the enterprise.
  • Provide support and oversight of the Home Health and Hospice Division to ensure adoption of the standard model, implementing standardization and centralization where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to identify, support, implement, and monitor new and existing revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Work with the Finance team to determine contractuals, allowances, and reserving, ensuring all internal controls are in place for compliance with GAAP guidelines and EOFY audits.
  • Collaborate with the Managed Care, Reimbursement, and Case Management teams to assure accurate revenue recognition.
  • Assist in collaboration with the Corporate Director of Managed Care and MCO to address claims and payment issues.
  • Develop strategies to decrease expenses within operations.
  • Utilize team-building concepts to facilitate communication and direction supporting the corporate mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide leadership regarding reimbursement improvements and cross-walks for the General Accounting and Finance areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements for Revenue Cycle.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Communicare Health Services, conducting all business with the highest level of integrity and ethics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: BS in Accounting or Finance preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree for this position.
  • 5 years of experience in revenue cycle or financial leadership roles within the Home Health/Hospice industry.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Home Health reporting and the impact of the revenue cycle.
  • Broad knowledge of the healthcare industry in a multi-state environment, billing of multiple payer types, managed care industry, and integrated delivery systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex reimbursement structures and apply contractual and governmental regulations to billing processes.
  • Working knowledge of Home Health audit procedures for internal controls.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively influence change within an organization.
  • Ability to build, develop, educate, and maintain an effective team.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments to achieve revenue cycle goals.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills with the ability to gain buy-in and acceptance from others in difficult situations.
  • Strong information system skills for operational and strategic application of technology to enhance revenue cycle operations.
