Director of Originations (Hybrid)

Macdonald and Company have been exclusively retained by our client, a well-capitalized private real estate lender, to appoint a Director of Originations to be based in Phoenix, Arizona. This role will offer a very flexible, hybrid schedule as meeting with clients out in the field will be the priority. Reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will receive passive leads and have no internal competition.

About the opportunity:

The Director will originate, structure, and close single family real estate transactions, building and maintaining relationships with developers, builders, realtors, and bankers. Responsibilities include driving loan growth, negotiating terms, vetting deals, staying informed on market trends, and managing loan processing. Some portfolio management is also required.

Responsibilities:

• Drive loan growth and expand the company's market share in Arizona by cultivating strong relationships with new and existing borrowers, ensuring all loan processes adhere to company guidelines.
• Negotiate loan terms, structures, and financing options based on credit and risk guidelines, and present comprehensive loan packages to Managing Directors, the Credit Committee, and other key stakeholders for review.
• Source and evaluate deals by assessing real estate values, borrower financial strength, and borrower experience to ensure loans meet desired metrics.
• Stay updated on trends, market conditions, and factors affecting real estate lending in the Phoenix, AZ market.
• Enter structured loan applications and documents into the company's CRM platform, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Monitor milestones and collaborate with borrowers and internal teams on loan processing and documentation to facilitate the loan from initiation to funding.

Requirements:

• Degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or relevant field
• 3-6 years of real estate origination experience
• An existing network in the Phoenix private lending market
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• This position requires limited in-office work in Phoenix
