Director of National and International Expansion

Pathways Management Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Expansion to provide overall leadership for the organization’s expansion initiatives. Compensation: $70k-90k


The Director of Expansion will work to establish the organization’s suite of services that include but not limited to: establishing and opening new school models like, charter schools, contract schools, private schools, and lab schools, including schools that utilize Education Savings Accounts (ESA) in new districts, state wide, nationally and internationally as well as consulting and supporting established schools (clients) for growth nationwide and internationally. The Director of Expansion will manage team that will bring together all of the various pieces necessary to open a school and will closely focus on the political and cultural strategies required to open a school. As a leader of the organization, the Director of Expansion will work closely with clients and school leadership, to lay the groundwork to create a model that ensures that a school can become a sustainable operating entity once it reaches its capacity within 6 months to a year and be sustainable. In addition, the Director of Expansion will be responsible for continually refining the overall expansion strategy and start-up process, attaining external clients to ensure a profitable department, and will work with other team members and clients to improve upon the school model and growth for the organization and its clients advising as appropriate to utilize existing services within the network: Backoffice, SPED, Travel, Software, IT, etc.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identify and analyze opportunities for new schools in districts, regions, nationally and international growth. Works with CEO and staff, negotiate with interested localities to meet the organization expectations in advance of beginning work at a new location

2. Analyze viability of opening the school model in specific locations, with particular emphasis on operational funding structure and legislative strategies. Focus 9-12 months of work in new location, to assess feasibility and make recommendations to CEO

3. Recruit, hire, train and manage team for next phase of work in locations which are selected for likelihood of opening

4. Oversee work of teams in all phases before school opening. Guide and support all team(s) in all aspects of school start-up including developing board, community relationship, facilities acquisition, site construction, financing, federal and state grants, and leadership recruiting or the operational school functions and requirements for that particular area.

5. Work closely with CEO and Leadership to ensure that all expansion efforts (e.g. legislation, facilities, community development, federal and state grants) are consistent with and supportive of the school model

6. Support team(s) in the hiring, training and transition of the school leadership team for start-up schools

7. Work closely with the CEO to ensure funding is secured of each new site

8. Understand local and international policy environment and monitor political and policy issues in all locations where the school conducts start-up work

9. Develop and refine yearly strategic plan including start-up process/roadmap, replication unit/model, and financials including P&L and cash flow

10. Strategize, evaluate and react to opportunities for growth across all revenue streams

11. Analyze and recommend other mechanisms for the school model to expand its influence on education reform, urban policy and general international policymaking

12. Other duties as deemed necessary


QUALIFICATIONS


● Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to generate enthusiasm and confidence from others

● Highly organized and experienced in managing multiple individuals and projects, with a broad set of goals

● Comfortable working in a fluid environment and capable of making adjustments in both day-to-day and larger-scale activities based on new information and situations

● Comfortable working within a team that includes managers, peers, and advisors, and prepared to interact with team members on a non-hierarchical basis

● Able to work with people of different political and international positions and power and be able to influence them in a respectful, but commanding, manner

● Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy

● Strong sales personality

● Analytical experience and the capacity to create detailed business and strategic plans

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals at all levels, both one-on-one and in groups

● Willingness to learn quickly and work in a challenging, entrepreneurial atmosphere

● Understanding of the international issue’s youth face in education


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

● Experience growing a business in for-profit or not-for-profit industry


COMPUTER SKILLS

● Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Suite

● Internet savvy and skilled with technology


Salary and benefits are competitive with major for and non-profits. Position is based remotely but will require international travel and domestic travel. The Director of International Expansion will report to the CEO of Pathways Management Group, Inc.
