Mission of the Position

The mission of the Director is to be a senior member of the Investment team, working closely with the CIO to expand and enhance our market research, asset allocation and manager screening and diligence processes. This individual would be the senior coverage analyst for new and existing fund investments across asset types and strategies, as well as a significant contributor to economic and market analysis, firmwide asset allocation and client portfolio positioning decisions. This is a highly visible role across the organization and with clients.


Top Accountabilities

  • Assess global economic trends and events and their impact on capital markets. Leverage knowledge and experience to formulate investment theses based on findings.
  • Deliverable: Macro and market analysis framework that informs investment outlook.
  • Assess relative return opportunities and risks across asset types and strategies that can be expressed via an asset allocation framework.
  • Deliverable: Valuation, spread, and expected risk-adjusted return metrics, with an appreciation for tax consequences and investment structure.
  • Independently source, screen, and diligence investment opportunities across asset types and strategies.
  • Deliverable: Fast-filtering of investment opportunities to support compelling investment pipeline.
  • Oversight and management of covered investments.
  • Deliverable: Meeting notes, calls, attribution analysis, performance metrics, and ongoing investment and operational evaluation.
  • Deliver assessments and recommendations of all of the above via written and audio-visual media to different parties including the Client Advisor team, the Investment Committee, clients, and prospects.
  • Deliverable: Market and investment commentary, white papers, meeting materials, client education and presentations.



Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Investment Oversight: Senior coverage analyst on managers across asset types and investment vehicles, maintains active communication and monitors key investment and business elements.
  • Builds and maintains return and portfolio exposure models.
  • Documents meetings and relevant correspondence with managers.
  • Actively monitors and disseminates performance and related market news of covered managers and relevant strategies.
  • Proficient in conducting operational due diligence, including but not limited to aspects of cash controls, valuation and allocation processes, financing, compliance and regulatory matters, and technology.
  • Review of regulatory filings: ADVs, Audited Financials, PPM, LPA, Sub Docs
  • Actively engages with client-facing team to provide regular updates on portfolio investments in advance of client/prospect meetings.
  • Supports any existing and future Simon Quick private funds, including allocations, capital flow management, investor communications, performance analysis, vendor and regulatory requirements.



Key Criteria/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, and an MBA and/or CFA designation, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant economic and market analysis, and investment due diligence experience.
  • Strong professional network within the investment community preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required, including the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets, utilize advanced formulas, and generate detailed reports for data analysis and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in investment tools including Bloomberg, Morningstar, and PitchBook is preferred, with the ability to conduct comprehensive financial analysis, generate detailed market reports, and support data-driven investment decisions.



Key Competencies

  • Markets acumen - Comprehension of pricing, market structure, stakeholders in capital markets, etc. across asset types and industries and geographies
  • Macroeconomic acumen - Comprehension of economic information and assessing importance to changing business cycles
  • Fluency of asset type and strategy - Understanding of the interplay of assets and capital structures, and how many investment strategies work
  • Knowledge of investment metrics - Understanding of alpha, beta, sharpe, correlations, etc.
  • Financial analysis competency - Understanding of margins, EBITDA, multiple, etc.
  • Analytical skills - Ability to synthesize large sets of dynamic information and provide actionable insights with conviction and analytical rigor.
  • Communicate both in written & verbal form - Ability to effectively convey complex financial and technical information and ideas, clearly and persuasively through both written and spoken mediums.
  • Collaborative - Ability to work cooperatively with others, leveraging diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals and produce collective results.
  • Problem Solving - Ability to identify, analyze, and develop effective solutions for complex and challenging issues using critical thinking and creativity.
  • Prioritize & Delegate - Ability to assess tasks based on importance and urgency, effectively allocate resources, and assign responsibilities to ensure optimal productivity and goal achievement.



Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
