StevenDouglas has been engaged on an outstanding Controller career opportunity in Las Colinas, Texas. Our client, a successful and growing professional services firm is seeking a high caliber CPA with multilocation, M&A experience who brings prior controller experience. Reporting directly to CFO, the Controller is responsible for supporting management planning and decision making by ensuring accurate financials, identifying, maintaining, and evaluating critical financial and operational controls, overseeing payroll and billing. The controller provides accurate and timely financial data to the various levels of management. They will provide controllership over month-end and year-end financial reporting processes, acquired company financials/reporting processes, all while they ensure timely and accurate financial statements. They will supervise the Accounting, Payroll, and AR Managers and employees in the accounting/finance departments of acquired companies.


Main Accountabilities:


Accounting/Controlling:

  • Creates continuous accounting processes for all accounts to ensure timely accounting, analysis, reconciliation. Reviews work with team to ensure timely issue identification and resolution.
  • Execute a structured and detailed month-end process and other financial reporting processes and ensure timely and accurate input from departmental staff, target closing all relevant subledgers, AR with review and analysis occurring throughout.
  • Implement and maintain a billing process to process and submit all billing within 10 business days. Targeting DSO’s of 60 days across the organization.
  • Provides a billing update to senior management on a timely recurring basis during the monthly cycle.
  • Compiles Month-End Operations Review Deck and assist with BOD meeting preparation.
  • Updates Monthly Bank Reporting Package including quarterly Debt covenants and Covenant Reporting to bank.
  • Manage and oversee treasury related activities.
  • Coordinates and Facilitates YE audits and Tax Preparation, including all SALT and other local compliance related activities.
  • Overseas payroll processing and review and approval of payroll.
  • Will assist in the Annual operating budgeting and capex process and supporting documentation and tracks performance against.
  • Hires, orients, supervises, and evaluates staff under direct and indirect supervision

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Supports due diligence efforts for potential targeted acquisitions.
  • Spearhead integration of the Finance & Accounting functions of all acquisitions.
  • Rolls out Accounting/Finance ERP modules at all new acquisitions.
  • Assists with process review, documentation and streamlining
  • Supports due diligence efforts for potential targeted acquisitions.

Processes & Analyses:

  • Supports the operations team with analysis including job profitability, service line profitability, customer profitability, new customer trending, pricing and material margin analyses.
  • Provides relevant reporting to all major budget holders reviewing spend by function, location, and other relevant focus areas.
  • Reviews business processes across all departments within the organization to document, optimize and define the most efficient processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA Preferred
  • Active CPA required
  • 8-10+ years of accounting experience preferably with multilocation experience
  • Significant experience in financial analysis -strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated strength with refining business processes and enhancing reporting
  • Mergers & Acquisitions -due diligence and integration experience
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
  • Outstanding communication skills – High EQ/Emotional Intelligence ability to read a room/know your audience
  • Critical, strategic and creative thinker - highly driven and self-motivated
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint as well as ERP implementation experience


This role offers a base salary to $190k+ with an annual bonus and exceptional benefit package. Potential for career growth!
