Summary Of Position

Responsible for the education and general development of the community children enrolled in the agency’s Early Head Start-CCP Centro Infantil Program, implementing the curriculum per Early Head Start-CCP standards, educational plan, and the agency philosophy.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide a learning environment for children that will help to promote learning through all developmental areas: physical, social-emotional, and intellectual
  • Develop and implement weekly lessons focusing on literacy, math, and science to provide a “child-centered environment” that includes individualized activities, small and large group activities
  • Host reading arts & crafts workshops for community members
  • Reporting children to progress through scheduled interviews and conferences, home visits, and written evaluations
  • Complete required classroom paperwork as need it, including lesson plans, child observations, home visits, and parent/teacher conference reports
  • Maintains effective and professional relationships with parents, staff members, and children.
  • (All personnel are encouraged to greet parents at the time of arrival and departure.)
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism while adhering to City of Chicago inspections, DCFS, and Federal DFSS regulations for the Early Head Start-CCP program.
  • Acquires all necessary signatures of parents and/or guardians for events/activities requiring their permission.
  • Complete and implement an assessment for each child, identify and refer children with special needs to the social service worker.
  • Plan and implement appropriate activities following the creative curriculum and the Center Philosophy. Adapting the curriculum and directing instruction to meet individual needs
  • Attend and participate in all Field Trips, Parents meetings, Evaluations, Training, Fundraisers, Program Recruitment Events, and Conferences.
  • Provide an individualization plan for each child. This plan is to be submitted monthly.
  • Creating and maintaining a classroom environment that is well organized clean and attractive, arranges the classroom to meet the needs of each child. Plan and assist in all remodeling and cleaning of the Day Care Center.
  • Enter screening assessment, case notes, and other documentation into the COPA system and administer the ASQ’s screening to determine the growth and development of each child
  • Respond to the child’s needs in a loving and caring environment
  • Attends The PRCC program-specific and organizational activities and meetings, including but not limited to the monthly organization-wide General Assembly
  • Participates in organizational annual events including but not limited to the Puerto Rican People’s Parade, Fiesta Boricua, Three Kings Day, and Haunted Paseo Boricua
  • Other duties as assigned

This position requires compliance with all of The PRCC’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, all policies and procedures, and Regulatory Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Early Intervention.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment: facsimile machine, photocopier, telephone, computer, iPad, and printer.

Skills

  • Ability to present information about the agency on the agency’s behalf
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret results yielding varying outcomes
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred

Licensure

  • N/A

Education

  • Associate Degree ECE/Child Development or an Infant and Toddlers CDA Credential

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

OSHA Category 1 – Involves regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.

  • Exposed to loud noises.
  • Change Diapers.
  • Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Requires regular talking, hearing, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing, and representative wrist, hand, and/or finger movement.
  • Occasionally required to lift weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires a highly demanding level of attention.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $19.50 - $21.50 per hour
