Job Summary: As a Bookkeeper at the Mercatus Center, you play an essential role in maintaining our financial records with accuracy and integrity. This role suits someone with foundational bookkeeping knowledge who is eager to apply and expand their skills in a dynamic academic environment. This is a hybrid role that will be expected in our Arlington office a few days a week.
What You'll Do
Record daily financial transactions, including invoices and payments, ensuring all entries are accurate and up to date.
Assist in reconciling bank statements and maintaining comprehensive financial records for monthly reviews.
Support payroll processing tasks, ensuring accurate documentation and timely execution.
Prepare initial financial reports under supervision, aiding in the analysis of the organization’s fiscal activities.
Work collaboratively with the finance team to maintain and improve financial procedures, enhancing overall transactional accuracy.

Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not required.
Relevant bookkeeping experience.
1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping or a similar financial record-keeping role.
Basic proficiency with accounting software and comfortable using spreadsheet applications.
Good analytical skills with the ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
