We are distillery, an independent creative practice trusted by world-leading B2B, purpose and consumer organisations to deliver tangible value through our marketing specialisms.

Our purpose is to empower ambitious business leaders and marketers to make a difference. We achieve this through compassion, curiosity and a commitment to achieve outstanding results every time.

Our days are fast-paced and exciting, while our vibe is super comfortable, creative and collaborative. We take care of our people and we are always looking for opportunities to help each other grow. Leadership priorities are simplicity, transparency, and humanity.

OVERVIEW

We are looking to hire a contract copywriter (6 month contract to begin with) to create outstanding copy, across social, blog posts, mid-form and long-form case studies and newsletters - as well as supporting creative ideation and video work.

You will get to know your clients and their businesses inside and out through research and conducting interviews over VC, as well as oversee some written output from our global teams in the UK and Singapore.

It’s a varied role, with plenty of room to grow and develop, with a variety of exciting client accounts, including one of our key clients, Google.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As our in-house copywriter, you will be responsible for helping us to raise the bar on our written content.

You’ll be comfortable running interviews for blog posts (from C-Suite to developers to SMEs to stakeholders), working with existing tone of voice guides, proofing existing content, discussing copy with clients, and most of all you’ll be passionate about the projects you work on and care about our output.

You’ll also participate in new business development, proactive creative work for clients and a project or two cross-office as we collaborate with our other offices.

Who you are:

  • You have experience writing B2B success stories, client testimonials or proof of concept case studies for companies in technology, healthcare or similar industries
  • You’re skilled at extracting the most important highlights of a story—the numbers, statistics and percentages that show business growth and success, as well as impactful quotes that are powerful enough to stand alone
  • You can conceptualize and write exceptional, engaging copy in a content structure that reads smoothly and effectively, and in a variety of styles and formats
  • You’re meticulously organized and very comfortable working with G Suite products, including Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Hangouts
  • You’re curious, you love learning about important things being done in the world today, and you take a quiet pride in your ability to grasp complex topics and write about them in a way everyone can understand
  • You have an interest and understanding of technology, especially the sensitivities around data security, superlative claims, compliance and other hot topics
  • You’re very comfortable presenting, whether that looks like running interviews over Google Hangouts with multiple stakeholders on the call or sharing your ideas, your ability to keep the session on-agenda are key
  • You have a deep understanding of tone of voice—you’re able to quickly get up to speed on brand guidelines and consistently apply them in your writing
  • You love working collaboratively in a team
  • A background in journalism or research will be an advantage

SKILLS

You will need to show:

  • the ability to write good, clear copy in a variety of styles with accurate spelling and grammar
  • have a deep understanding of tone of voice and the ability to generate engaging copy with a keen eye for detail and consistency
  • an interest in and understanding of technology
  • the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • administrative, IT and proofreading skills
  • good research skills
  • strong analytical skills
  • excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to form strong working relationships quickly
  • logic, creativity and imagination
  • strong organizational skills
  • self-motivation, flexibility, stamina and the ability to adapt
  • confidence, enthusiasm and determination
  • accuracy and attention to detail
  • the resilience to accept criticism of your work with multiple edits from a variety of stakeholders
  • commercial awareness with the ability to understand the target audience

An interest in technology, cloud technology, and B2B work is essential.

Languages would be an additional bonus (French, Spanish) but not essential.
