Job Summary:
Cohen & Steers is seeing an Associate Director to join the Real Estate Strategy & Research Group. The team is responsible for building and leading an investment process to identify and allocate to the best opportunities across listed and private real estate markets. This entrepreneurial role crosses research, strategy, and investments and will cover all major markets across the globe. Based in New York, this role will report directly to the SVP, Head of Real Estate Strategy & Research, working closely with the organization’s investment committees and senior leaders. Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Identify drivers of the commercial real estate cycle
- Project real estate valuations overall, property-by-property and market-by-market
- Create a relative value framework for listed REITs vs. private real estate and debt
- Analyze the strategic and tactical benefits of combining REITs with private CRE
- Develop longer-term views around sectors and geographies
- Partner with SVP to demonstrate CNS thought leadership in real estate across channels
- Interact with consultants, clients and prospects to demonstrate expertise in real estate
- 5+ years of relevant experience; background in a data-driven research real estate role
- Exceptional analytical skills and qualitative and quantitative research skills; coding and machine learning are beneficial, though not required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to support thought leadership in real estate via white papers and webcasts and effectively engage with consultants, clients and prospects
- Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; to pivot and effectively prioritize
