Position Summary

This role provides support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a creative and person-centered environment. Provides professional level art mentorship in relevant materials and techniques to neuro-diverse artists in a progressive art studio environment. The art instructor provides direct guidance in the acquisition of artistic skills and development of CCW artists in their work to build an identity, express themselves and engage in the larger community as accomplished artists. Art Instructors work with CCW artists both in the studio and in the community. A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.

Essential Duties And Functions

Art Instruction

  • Guides artists in art processes, while teaching materials and technique skills.
  • Teaches art making vocational skills.
  • Participates in and provides support relating to special projects.

Individual Support and Community Integration

  • Works individually, as needed, with individuals served in the removal of barriers to learning and in the enhancement of participation in services.
  • Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team with the goal of providing services that are holistic and values based.
  • Meets, as needed, with the collateral support of the individuals served to provide services in concert with other life goals.
  • At times, accompany small groups (1-3 people) of CCW artists in the community on outings using CCW vehicles

Administration

  • Works with the team to create functional aspects of day-to-day processes, as well as attends staff meetings and bi-annual in-service training.
  • Completes all required clinical and administrative documentation in a timely manner to support current and ongoing services.
  • Collaborates and oversees efficient organization of the studio, classes, supplies and storage, including managing the art studio materials and create inventories, when needed.
  • Assures the health and safety aspects of studio activity and reports health and safety incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus 1 year of related experience in an art discipline

OR

High School Diploma / GED equivalency, plus 3 years of studio practice, including 1 year of related experience in an art discipline.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Applications.
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI check, if applicable.
  • Driver’s license preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Works in an office environment and art studio setting.

Requirements

Physical requirements

  • On occasion, may need to lift supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • may need to Assist participants with ADL, toileting, feeding, as needed.

Lifting Requirements

  • Medium: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
