Here's how you can ignite creativity in sales meetings and brainstorming sessions.
One of the most effective and inclusive ways I've executed engagement is to start by asking the group where our biggest areas of opportunity are and why. This initial question sparks discussion and ensures everyone feels their input is valued. As a collective, we then prioritize the opportunity areas where we can have the biggest impact, focusing on factors within our control. We then brainstorm ideas, address opportunities and assign accountability for executing the agreed-upon strategies. This level of involvement fosters creativity, open communication, and a problem-solving mindset company-wide. Additionally, we utilize structured brainstorming techniques, and follow up on the progress of our ideas to ensure continuous improvement.

How can you use hackathons to identify high-potential tech candidates?
I believe the brilliance of hackathons lies in the fact that they're like brainstorming sessions on steroids. Often, we bring together diverse minds and ideas, all converging to create something extraordinary. It's not merely about problem-solving; it's about sculpting solutions that can make a real impact, perhaps even change the game—Who knows!? Hackathons are where the chaotic creative process can give birth to something with the potential to shake things up. It might sound a bit optimistic but genius can start anywhere...

What are the best ways to build a diverse professional network?
Start by attending conferences, seminars, and networking events. Whether in person or virtual, these gatherings often attract professionals from various backgrounds and industries. Another successful yet sometimes forgotten approach is to contribute to online forums and communities related to your industry. This can be an excellent way to connect with professionals globally. Lastly, use your Alumni network! Universities often have a diverse alumni base, and these connections can lead to valuable professional relationships. Remember that building a diverse network is not just about quantity but also about the quality of relationships. Actively listen, learn from others, and be genuinely interested in their experiences and perspectives.

What are the top 3 things to research before an interview?
It's critical to not only understand the position but the person(s) hiring for the position. How can you connect on something other than a job-specific relationship? Be different. Secondly, what is the company all about? Why is their mission important to them? What's driving the position need and ultimately, how does it align to the team and company mission? Lastly, (and probably an unpopular opinion😊 ) research effective ways to interview and represent your experience. People want to work with who they feel is best for the job but also, who they like. Having the necessary experience is only as good as the ability to effectively answer questions and show YOUR value as it relates to the position and team goals and needs.
