The PASM dial is a fundamental feature found on many cameras, particularly DSLRs and mirrorless models. This dial offers photographers quick access to four crucial shooting modes: Program (P), Aperture Priority (A), Shutter Priority (S), and Manual (M). Understanding these modes and their applications can significantly enhance your photography skills. **Program Mode (P):** This mode automates both aperture and shutter speed, making it ideal for beginners or for quick, on-the-go shots. While the camera selects the optimal settings, users still retain control over ISO, white balance, and exposure compensation. **Aperture Priority (A):** In this mode, photographers set the aperture while the camera adjusts the shutter speed to ensure a correct exposure. As some of you retouchers know, photographers can be somewhat resistant to have their work use in a "before and After" display of our skills. I can't really blame them, but we need to show images in this context for self promotion. My solution was to create some images of my own that I could show as before and after. I don't have to ask anyone's permission.
