Why All Nurses Shouldn't Be Confined to Bedside Care (Tales of a Public Health Nurse) - - This story was shared with me by one of my colleagues who is currently practicing as a Public Health Nurse but started out as a Registered Bedside Nurse. “A few years ago, I found myself feeling burnt out and unfulfilled in my role as a bedside nurse. Despite my passion for patient care, the long hours, high patient ratios, and physical demands took a toll on my well-being. I felt stuck, wondering if there was more I could do to make a difference in healthcare. That's when I decided to explore other avenues within nursing. I transitioned into a role in public health, where I had the opportunity to work on community outreach programs and advocate for preventive care initiatives. It was a refreshing change that reignited my passion for nursing. Through my new role, I realized that nursing encompasses a diverse range of specialties and opportunities beyond the hospital walls. From research and education to administration and policy-making, there are countless ways for nurses to contribute to the healthcare system and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.” So, why should all nurses not be confined to bedside care? In my opinion, because we have unique skills, knowledge, and perspectives that can be applied in various settings to address healthcare challenges from different angles. By embracing diverse roles, we can drive innovation, improve patient care, and advance the nursing profession as a whole. This study is part of my doctoral degree program. My research aims to interview United States Accountable Care Organization administrators, leaders, and IT professionals to explore and identify effective strategies to mitigate barriers and challenges experienced while integrating information technology systems. You are invited to participate with your knowledge, experience, expertise, and personal assessments of these strategies without regard to your current employer or workplace and the practices used at those sites. Criteria to be a Participant: You can be a participant if you meet the following criteria: ·  Have two years ‘experience as an ACO administrator or leader responsible for daily operations in the ACO setting and involved in IT platform integration. ·  Have first-hand knowledge of IT implementation in the ACO setting. Transitionning through life’s transitions. Samantha D. McCoy DNP, RN As each day goes by, everyone comes to a point in their life where they question, am I where I want to be right now? Does this situation, circumstance, or moment truly show me? The true me? Who I am at my core? And if not, how do I change that? https://lnkd.in/eGn8zgv7 For some, those questions come in midlife, or just after graduating college. For others it comes after the honeymoon, the birth of their first child, or when your youngest child leaves the nest. If you are anything like the majority of us adults, these questions abound at various stages in life. They can come up multiple times during life’s various stages. Examining and re-examining to evaluate if the path you are on is a true reflection of who you feel you are at your core. May is a month full of life-changing transitions. Spring is springing, students are graduating from high school and college. New businesses are springing up, new careers are beginning. People are getting married, buying houses, having babies, traveling, and getting much needed spring cleaning done. During all of these new beginnings, fresh starts, and celebrations, remember to take the time to take care of yourself. We need to keep learning and improving in #healthcare.
