We not only help our government partners set up and run public health communications campaigns. As Stephen Hamill explains, we make sure to take a sustainable approach, so the work can continue long after we're gone. The U.S. Supreme Court's decision to limit federal regulatory authority through the recent Chevron ruling threatens essential protections we have for #publichealth, the environment and beyond. It shifts power from experts at federal agencies, leaving courts to decide how regulations are enforced and opening them up to legal challenges. The rules that protect our health care, the environment, our water supply and food systems should be decided on and implemented by experts at these agencies, not lawyers and judges. It will paralyze potential for progress on stronger health systems, climate change, cleaner air and water, and more. The decision by the current court majority reverses decades of progress in favor of corporate interests. Read more about the ruling from The New York Times https://lnkd.in/dFSQtYtg Photo: Air pollution over Los Angeles. The Chevron ruling could gut regulations set out under the 1970 Clean Air Act.

Advocates for sex worker rights and drug policy reform are on the front lines of the harm reduction movement, providing services, mutual aid and community outreach using a compassionate approach based on public health. They have also played a critical role advocating for the divestment from punitive approaches to the sex trade and drug use. We spoke with author, Justice Rivera, about how communities can better support sex workers and people who use drugs through policy reform and harm reduction, and what collective liberation looks like. https://lnkd.in/eHcjdMSU

EXCLUSIVE: A former employee has blown the whistle on tobacco giant Philip Morris, after discovering a web of payments funding research into its tobacco products. Shiro Konuma was attracted by the company’s vision of a smoke-free future – as a medical doctor and smoker himself, he described smoking as “one of the biggest remaining issues of public health.” But what he discovered inside the company made him question everything. Click the link in the comments to read the full investigation and watch an exclusive interview with Konuma ⬇️ #tobacco #BigTobacco #philipmorris #Iqos #japan #whistleblower #investigative #investigativejournalism
