UTA is proud to partner with EICOP, an organization that creates programs to provide diverse, ready-for-hire talent pools for employment in entertainment. Led by our DEI and Early Careers Recruiting teams, we recently hosted more than 100 collegiate students at our offices in Los Angeles and Atlanta for EICOP's HBCU internship program, an immersive 8-10 week experience that sets up students to pursue careers in our industry. UTA agents, executives and client Arsema Thomas participated in sessions. Last month, UTA’s Lindsay W. (Chief Diversity Officer) also attended EICOP’s first HBCU Presidents' Roundtable in Atlanta, focused on building bridges between entertainment organizations and universities. She was joined by Robert Gibbs (Partner, Co-Head of UTA Atlanta & Head of Atlanta Music), Leslee Treleven (Director, Early Career Recruiting), leaders from The White House Initiative on HBCUs, city and state officials (such as Congressman Kwanza Hall), and other industry stakeholders committed to creating equity, access and opportunities for HBCU students and underrepresented talent. Thank you to these UTA colleagues who participated: Eni Akintade, Lauren Probyn Aouad, Bridgette Baldo, Gibbs, Clif Le Grand, Arthur Lewis, Nicole Lynn, Andrea Nelson Meigs, Kimberly Brown Oredugba, Durmerrick Ross, Vatana Shaw, Steve Cohen and Darnell Strom.

"My Lady Jane" created, showrun, and executive produced by our client Gemma Burgess climbed the streaming charts following its June 27 premiere, with some 300 million minutes watched. The show also has a 93% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Forbes calls it the streamer’s “best new show.” The period drama — based on the novel by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton — is set in the 16th century and follows Lady Jane Grey as she's forced to marry Lord Guildfor Dudley after her father's death. But this isn’t your normal period drama, as some humans are able to transfigure into animals. Other clients involved in the project include executive producer and director Jamie Babbit, executive producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (via Parkes+MacDonald Image Nation), supervising producer Bisanne Masoud and co-producer Cathy Lew.

CEO Jeremy Zimmer says, “It’s part of what we do. You’re in a community and you try to give back to that community.”

UTA welcomes singer-songwriter Brandon Lake. The “Praise You Anywhere” hitmaker has signed with us for representation in all areas. He has won five Grammy Awards and most recently wrapped a sold-out 20-city tour across the nation. Later this year, Lake will reunite with Phil Wickham for their second “Summer Worship Nights” run and host a special stripped-down, one-night-only show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on September 30.

Some of the biggest country artists of our time will come together to honor the late Toby Keith, a longtime UTA client, at a charity benefit concert. Titled “Toby Keith: American Icon,” the event will take place at Bridgestone Arena on July 29 with an NBC special to follow on August 28. UTA agents Curt Motley, who represented Keith for 30 years, and Nick Barnes say the show will celebrate the singer-songwriter’s impact on the music industry; Keith achieved 32 No. 1 singles. UTA client Leanne Morgan is among those who’ll perform. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Ok Kids Korral and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

UTA clients Jessica Alba and Clara Lago are dominating Netflix this week. Alba’s film “Trigger Warning,” which is the first she’s executive produced through her new production banner, follows a special forces commando who returns to her hometown after her father’s mysterious, sudden death. Her questions surrounding her father’s demise land her in hot water with a violent gang. The movie claimed the top spot with 25.7 million views. Lago’s series, “Gangs of Galicia,” tells the story of Ana as she seeks revenge on a Galician drug cartel and becoming close to its leader after her father’s murder reveals a hidden double life. The series quickly climbed the charts and landed at #1 with 2.9 million views in its first weekend of release.
