About us
For over twenty years, Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center has provided an extensive and always-expanding array of health care services to the Spanish Peaks region and beyond. We serve patients through a collection of health care offerings, including a critical access hospital, emergency room, two family clinics, women’s clinic, specialty clinic, and a well-equipped medical transportation division. Our extensive services include specialty practices, surgery, physical and occupational therapies, laboratory service, imaging advanced and much more. We’re located in scenic Southern Colorado, with majestic peaks framing our primary campus on U.S. Highway 160, just three miles west of I-25. Under a contract with the State of Colorado, Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center is operated by the Huerfano County Hospital District, a Colorado Special District, directed by a five-member, county-elected Board of Directors.

The Nightingale Awards, presented by the Colorado Nurses Foundation, occurred on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Inverness Denver. Fifteen Colorado Nurses were honored and awarded as Nightingale recipients out of 78 selected as 2024 luminaries. Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center/Veterans Community Living Center had three nurses representing our facility: Andrea Pacheco, Talea Logan, and Victoria Dalla Guardia. Andrea Pacheco received the Nightingale Award for Exceptional Achievement by a Licensed Practical Nurse in Clinical Practice. Congratulations to all of our nurses; we are incredibly proud of you. Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center welcomes Honorably Discharged Veterans, spouses, widows, widowers, and Gold Star Parents, regardless of their residency in Colorado. To be eligible for our nursing home services, applicants must need nursing care, which is determined by a set of requirements. We offer long-term and short-term care stays, with short-term care also known as respite stay, usually lasting from one to thirty days.
