    PRIDE @Saks, our LGBTQ+ employee resource group, which serves to promote an inclusive culture of acceptance, dignity and respect, recently welcomed guest speakers Tree, a long-time bartender at the historic Stonewall Inn, and Angelica Christina, a queer Latina activist, actor, model and trans consultant. Tree and Angelica joined PRIDE @Saks members Ryan Kenny and Colin Holmes for a conversation in recognition of the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, which began on this day in 1969. Guided by this month’s NYC Pride theme, ‘Reflect. Empower.     We’re proud to introduce the 2024 class of The New Wave at Saks, our designer accelerator program focused on developing and supporting independent brands in accelerating their growth within the fashion and retail industries. Our fourth cohort includes talented designers from four standout brands, Róhe Frames, NEOUS, Nicholas Daley and Glass Cypress. “Each of these designers were hand-selected by our team for their unique talent, perspective and significant growth potential. We’re incredibly proud to platform and elevate the next generation of design talent through the New Wave program, and we look forward to supporting the brands’ growth within Saks and the wider community,” said Roopal Patel, Fashion Director at Saks.     Our AAPIFY @Saks employee resource group provides an inclusive space for our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) employees and allies who are committed to building awareness, mentorship and empowerment for the AAPI community. In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, AAPIFY @Saks welcomed Elenor Mak, the founder and CEO of Jilly Bing, the first toy company to create dolls that resemble Asian American children, for a conversation on the importance of embracing diverse narratives in shaping identity from a young age. While sharing insight into her experience creating the brand, Elenor emphasized the importance of authentic representation and how Jilly Bing contributes to fostering a sense of belonging and pride among young Asian Americans. AAPIFY @Saks also hosted a pop-up market in our New York City corporate office for all employees to shop. The market featured a roster of emerging local AAPI-owned brands and small businesses selling traditional and culturally-inspired food and products. #Saks #AAPIHertiageMonth

    The latest session of our Getting to Know the Saks Management Team (SMT) series, which gives employees an opportunity to learn about our SMT leaders’ careers and leadership philosophies, featured Chief Marketing Officer Emily Essner. Emily shared insight into the roles she’s held during her tenure at Saks and emphasized the importance of authenticity as a core driver of her work.
