We foster a community where adults 55 years and older lead lives of growth, happiness, health and security. It’s been the focus of Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries for more than seven decades. At the center of our longstanding mission are two non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Communities we own and manage in Madison, Wisconsin.

Did you know that we have a 9-acre conservancy here at our University Woods campus? Residents enjoy walking our various trails daily and lead tours every Friday. They share their knowledge about the various plants and species living within as well as other fun nature facts! Another fun fact is that our residents have a committee dedicated to maintaining this beautiful nature preserve. You might see some turkeys around!

“Beurre de cacahuètes.” Connie Burmeister’s Danish father didn’t learn much of the French language while stationed in France during World War II, but he did learn the French word for peanut butter. “I never knew a French person to eat it, but my dad loved peanut butter,” Connie recalls.
