Schools out NYC! 🥳Reflecting on all we’ve accomplished with partners across government, the private sector, philanthropy, schools + communities this school year. Through the #SaveForCollege Program, we’re demonstrating what it looks like to invest in all our children’s futures! We’re celebrating that: 💰200,000+ students have NYC Scholarship Accounts with more than $30 million for their future college + career training. 🔔 We rang the New York Stock Exchange Opening Bell with partners from government, education, business, community, philanthropy, and some of our youngest scholars, opening trading + celebrating investment in students’ financial futures. 📚 Higher Ed leaders of colleges + universities came together to remind students of the boundless opportunities available for their educational futures as they started the school year. 💸 39 Public School Alumni across 34 school communities and all five boroughs led #NYCPublicSchoolAlumni Community Scholarships for 7,400+ K-2nd graders. 5️⃣ City Year New York Community Schools integrated the Save for College Program into family engagement strategies supporting ongoing training + capacity building of community partners across NYC. 🎊 58 Community Scholarships totaled nearly $1 million for students’ NYC Scholarship Accounts, demonstrating the commitment of New Yorkers, Businesses, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Resident Associations, Houses of Worship, Community Based Organizations, and more to the educational futures of students. 🏫 1,000 Elementary Schools are incorporating the Save for College Program in a variety of ways, using it as a tool for #collegeandcareer readiness, financial empowerment, and family engagement. 🎓400+ 6th graders in the Founding Class of the Save for College Program visited The City University of New York through CUNY Explorers, with the support of the Gray Foundation, to learn about college life.
