A new NIA-funded study found that maintaining a healthy lifestyle could help preserve cognitive function in older adults, even for those with signs of dementia in their brain. Researchers analyzed data from 586 participants from the Rush Memory and Aging Project to explore the relationship between lifestyle scores and cognitive function. An NIA-funded study found that food insecurity in families with adults over age 60 has doubled over the past 20 years and affects almost 25% of these families. The results found that Black, Hispanic, and low-income families were disproportionately affected by chronic and recurring food insecurity.
