Summer interns at National Indemnity gain knowledge and experience not only in the office, but also in the community. During their internship, these 18 talented college students have an opportunity to give back to others. They recently volunteered at The Hope Center for Kids, an Omaha nonprofit that provides a safe and supportive environment for at-risk youth. The group enjoyed touring the center, learning about its mission, and spending time with some of the kids. They also helped organize, clean, and declutter the space. Chalk it up to creativity! National Indemnity team members showed off their artistic skills while having fun collaborating with co-workers. They created a variety of summer-inspired chalk drawings, ranging from flowers and animals to rainbows and ice cream, in front of our downtown Omaha headquarters. The event was an opportunity for employees to connect over the lunch hour while adding a splash of color for all to enjoy. If there’s a challenge, tackle it! About 160 technology team members participated in National Indemnity’s annual Hackathon. During the multiday event, co-workers enjoyed collaborating with one another as they shared ideas and solutions to improve real business challenges submitted by others in our company.   Nick, a Senior Scrum Master, shared: “We tried to make this year’s event bigger and better. We had more people, more teams, more projects to choose from, and more space utilizing our collaboration building. What do baseball, art, and insurance have in common? You'll find out when you check out the massive mural on National Indemnity's parking garage at 12th and Capitol in downtown Omaha. We commissioned artist Kelsey Montague to paint the colorful mural last year, and it’s bound to catch the eye of fans attending the college baseball championship nearby. The landscaping, inspired by a baseball diamond, is built around the art, and there’s a real bat so viewers can immerse themselves into the piece.
