Meet Brett Krajewski, 8th grade math teacher at Schoo Middle School. Teaching the Skyhawks isn't the first time Brett has walked the halls of Schoo - he was in the first class to complete all their middle school years in the building. Brett found his calling in the classrooms he once sat and learned in, now teaching students of his own and helping them navigate the constant change that is middle school. STAFF SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Meet Stacy Hyde, technology services manager in computing services. Stacy's journey in education began as a computer technician in a small school district in Arizona. After moving to Nebraska, she joined LPS and, for the past 10 years, has provided vital tech support district-wide. Learn more about Stacy in her Q&A below. “Stacy plays an important role in the management and support of our district's Help Desk Support Team. The Help Desk Support Team provides technology support to all staff and students throughout the district. Without her strong work ethic and guidance, the Help Desk Support Team would not function at the level we do now.” - Ashley McBride, Help Desk support specialist. How long have you worked for LPS? I have worked at LPS for 10 years, all of which have been in our Help Desk in the computing services department. I have been the manager of the Help Desk for a little over two years.  What inspired you to become part of the education field at LPS? I previously worked as a computer technician at a small school district in Tucson, Arizona, and I really enjoyed working in the school system. When my family and I moved to Nebraska, school districts were the main places I searched for jobs. What has been your favorite part of working here? What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding? The people have been the best part of working at LPS. I enjoy supporting the staff and our Help Desk technicians. It is always a good feeling to help someone with a problem and our staff is always so appreciative. The most rewarding part is seeing just how many people we help! During the first week of school we take over 700 phone calls at the Help Desk! Did you attend LPS as a student? If so, which school(s)? If not, where are you from? I did not attend LPS. I grew up in Monrovia, California. Monrovia is a city in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California. What path did you take after completing your formal education? I have an associate’s degree in art from Citrus Community College. I never expected I would be working in the field of technology. I fell into this field while working at a cancer hospital in California. I started out as a data center technician, and things took off from there. Later in Arizona, I became a computer technician at a small school district. I taught children ages K-8 computer lessons and coordinated state testing in the computer lab. What do you enjoy most about the Lincoln community? What I enjoy most about the Lincoln community is the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home. What is your favorite childhood book or a book that has influenced your life positively? “Winnie-the-Pooh” by A.A. Milne - I collect all things Winnie-the-Pooh related. She manages purchase orders for district projects and supplies, while always working to make her team feel supported. Learn more about Kelsey in her Q&A below. "Kelsey has excellent organizing skills and communication. She is always thinking of ways to help us work more efficiently and has created some really great data tracking systems." - Lovena Glantz, purchasing technician. In a few sentences, briefly describe your role at LPS. I am a purchasing specialist in the purchasing department. I process the purchase orders for district construction and maintenance projects, computing services-related equipment as well as the district's paper supplies. How long have you worked for LPS? I have been with LPS for four years! I started as a secretary at Elliott Elementary (shoutout Owls!) and moved to my current role in 2023. What inspired you to become part of the education field at LPS? When looking to pivot into a different career, it was very important to work for a company that makes an impact within the community and supports our local youth. LPS was a no-brainer as it encompasses all of my values as part of its mission. What has been your favorite part of working here? What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding? I absolutely love being able to learn new things every day. Every day brings new adventures and I love to be a part of the moving process of supporting individuals within our district. One of the things I find most rewarding is being able to be a TeamMates mentor and to directly make an impact with the youth in our schools as well as being able to support them behind the scenes in my day-to-day tasks. It's the best of both worlds! Did you attend LPS as a student? If so, which school(s)? If not, where are you from? I attended the Montessori program at Everett Elementary, Pound Middle School and Southwest High School. What path did you take after completing your formal education? I attended Southeast Community College. What do you enjoy most about the Lincoln community? Lincoln really embodies the motto "The Good Life.” It is culturally diverse and has a strong sense of community. What is your favorite childhood book or a book that has influenced your life positively? A book that has influenced my life positively would be “Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win” by Jocko Willink. Share a shout out to a former teacher who impacted your life. Mr. Schrad at Southwest High School really made science fun! I appreciate all he did for me! https://lnkd.in/gU2wQPYD #LPSProud #LPSStaffSpotlight
