From day one, we’ve been committed to providing safe, supportive, discreet medication abortion treatment (no in-person clinic visit necessary), and today offer a range of reproductive and sexual health care services from the comfort and convenience of your phone. Not only have we helped people get the care they need, but we also became the first virtual abortion clinic to accept insurance, expanded our reproductive and sexual services, signed onto amicus briefs to support access to medication abortion, and more. While much has changed during this pivotal time for abortion access, our focus has remained steadfast and our patients remain at the center of everything we do. We are so grateful to everyone who has trusted us with their care. Research from UCSF confirms that medication abortion administered via telehealth by mail without first getting an ultrasound are as safe and effective as traditional in-person care. Published in JAMA, this study highlights the value of a "no-test" (or history-based) eligibility assessment. Big news: Today, the Supreme Court has made the right decision in AHM v. FDA by unanimously rejecting the plaintiffs’ in their attempt to limit access to mifepristone. As the leading virtual abortion provider in the US, Hey Jane will continue to deliver evidence-based, compassionate medication abortion care to our patients. Mifepristone is safe, effective, and a crucial part of expanding abortion access in this post-Roe world. This baseless litigation attacked essential health care and sought to cause confusion at a time when abortion pills by mail have become the most viable option for much of the country. When this litigation began in 2022, only 1 in 4 adults knew abortion pills existed—today, that number has doubled.  If there is one silver lining to this politically motivated effort to curtail access to mifepristone, it’s that even more people are now aware that medication abortion is a safe, effective, discreet, and common option for accessing abortion care. We're not afraid to talk about abortion—or standing up to censorship. Last month, our TikTok account was suspended, without cause and without warning. While we were able to get it reinstated a few days later, it wasn't the first time we've had to deal with being censored, shadowbanned, or suppressed on social media.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Abortion is common, essential health care, and sharing medically accurate information to people should not be politicized. Social media censorship is directly leading to people NOT being able to get accurate info when time is of the essence.⁠ So, we took a stand. We posted about it here, we pushed back on TikTok, and we spoke to The New York Times about the ongoing issues we've faced as the leading telemedicine abortion provider in the US. ⁠ And we're not alone—today Amnesty International USA released a report outlining all the ways that social media is silencing abortion care organizations (including Hey Jane). ⁠ But there are ways that you can help:⁠ 1) 👋 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram!
