Kylen has always loved baseball, but he was having trouble finding a batting helmet that fit him properly. His mother Kelly eventually contacted our Orthotics, Prosthetics and Seating Department and talked to provider Nick Anderson. After getting Kylen’s head measurements, Anderson was able to custom modify a Rawlings baseball helmet with carbon 3D printed foam padding. It now fits Kylen like a glove! The North Dakota resident can’t wait to hit the baseball diamond!

Straight out of residency, Peter Ladner, MD, knew he wanted to start his medical career at Gillette Children’s. “I had known about Gillette growing up in the Twin Cities. In my last year of residency, I rotated through Gillette as part of a complex care rotation. I met providers engaged in the type of care that I thought would align well with my own interests and with my medical training in internal medicine and pediatrics, and I was really impressed by all the resources Gillette provides [to our patients],” he shares. https://lnkd.in/gNKkV_kf

Every July, we celebrate Disability Pride Month, which honors the achievements of the disability rights movement and marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The disability pride flag, designed by Ann Magill, features five diagonal stripes of different colors on a black background. The flag’s five colors represent different types of disabilities: red (physical disabilities), gold (neurodivergence), white (invisible and undiagnosed disabilities), blue (psychiatric disabilities), and green (sensory disabilities). The black background mourns the victims of violence and abuse against persons with disabilities. Let's continue to celebrate the diverse identities within the disability community, educate and challenge stereotypes, and push for greater accessibility and inclusion. #DisabilityPrideMonth #Inclusion #DisabilityRights

June is #ScoliosisAwarenessMonth and we're celebrating the extraordinary things that can be achieved when individuals have access to the right treatment and care. “Most of the success that I’ve had climbing didn’t really happen until after my surgery,” Kyra says. “I think I was already pretty dedicated to doing the training, but there was something about it being taken away that really motivated me and changed my mindset. I couldn’t do anything about having scoliosis, but I could do something about how I came back from it.” Read more about professional climber and Olympian Kyra Condie's journey at Gillette: gillette.mn/kyraclimbs #Scoliosis #ScoliosisAwareness #SpinalFusion

When life gives you lemons, Joe and Bill turn them into miracles! 🍋✨ We want to extend a huge thank you to Joe, Bill, family, and the community for raising funds supporting Gillette Children’s at the 9th annual Joe & Bill’s Lemonade Stand in Richfield, MN. ☀️ The stand had humble beginnings, raising a few hundred dollars at its inception. Fast forward to 2023, Joe and friends raised more than $13,000. The totals are still coming in this year, but it looks like they may set a new record! We appreciate you! 🤍 #GilletteChildrens #JoeAndBillsLemonadeStand2024 #LemonadeStand #ThankYou
