BPGS attended the Associates Builders and Contractors of Delaware (ABC Delaware) Annual Chapter Awards this month when members were presented with the National STEP awards promoting safety, health & wellness with special recognition from the State and the industry. Thank you, ABC Delaware, for celebrating our commitment to safety with the 2024 Silver STEP Award, and congratulations to our Safety Coordinator Michele Heckler-Garcia for this well-deserved recognition! Michele's emphasis on safety goes beyond BPGS as the Safety Health & Wellness Committee Chairperson for ABC. During the Awards Dinner, Michele witnessed the signing of a new Ambassador Program agreement between ABC and OSHA to work together to improve workplace health and safety through ongoing information and guidance. The BPGS Safety and Health Program is designed to send each associate safely home to their families every day, and we are thankful to Michele for continually reinforcing the importance of safety in construction.

In honor of National Safety Stand-Down Week to prevent falls in construction, BPGS conducted a Safety Stand-Down at all of our active jobsites to reinforce the importance of Fall Prevention. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 395 of the 1069 construction fatalities recorded in 2022. Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries. Please join us in our commitment to safety and take steps to reduce fall hazards in your workplace.

At BPGS Construction, continuous learning is a crucial part of the company culture. BPGS is dedicated to empowering associates with knowledge to further their careers while also fostering an environment of comradery. Through the years, the team has developed strategic Build and Learn sessions in which all associates gather at a current job site for a lesson on unique aspects of the project or discussion on how an obstacle was overcome. In April, Project Engineer Denis Spaventa discussed the post-tensioning technique being utilized at The Press. The 14-story high-rise residential tower is being constructed using Post-Tension Concrete, in which concrete is reinforced with high-strength steel bars. After the discussion, the team headed onsite to walk the project and see post-tension concrete in action! If you’re looking for a company that encourages continuous learning and real-world applications, visit our website to view our current opportunities!

At BPGS we emphasize the importance of trainings, recertifications, and certifications for our associates. This month, United Rentals conducted a Rough Terrain (RT Forklift) Forklift and Scissor lift training for some of the BPGS Field Personnel. The training featured an in-class session as well as a hand-on portion held outside at The Standard Residential Project. Our goal is always zero incidents and injuries on our jobsites. Through continuous education and prevention trainings like these, we can continue to send everyone home safely each and every day.
