We applaud Chairman Tom Cole, Chairman Mike Simpson, and Rep. Michael Cloud for leading House Appropriations efforts to address EPA regulations that hurt innovation and undermine critical supply chains. Overly restrictive regulations based on EPA’s #IRIS program and EPA’s approach on #TSCA threaten needed products for critical sectors ranging from semiconductor development to agriculture to renewable energy. These appropriations measures are a critical step to protecting American Competitiveness. Read our letters on the impacts of #IRIS and #TSCA here: https://lnkd.in/eUmDxqRQ

The Naphthalene Webinar Scheduled for July 11 has been rescheduled to August 6th. To accommodate a scheduling conflict, the Naphthalene Workgroup’s webinar scheduled for Thursday July 11, 2024, has been moved to Tuesday August 6, 2024, at 11:00-11:30 ET. Those who have registered for the July 11th event will not have to re-register for the August 6th Webinar. The American Chemistry Council and the American Petroleum Institute launched the Naphthalene Workgroup earlier this month to respond to EPA’s forthcoming release of the draft IRIS Assessment for naphthalene in FY 2025. The group will also focus on preparing for EPA’s eventual prioritization of naphthalene under the Toxic Substances Control Act, and it will review and comment on the draft toxicological profile for naphthalene released by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry in May 2024. The Naphthalene Workgroup’s webinar will be a 30-minute event aimed at manufacturers and processors of naphthalene and related products. During this event, members of the workgroup will provide critical background on these federal actions and the potential impact on industry, the impetus for the coalition’s formation, the members’ perspectives on the regulatory proposals in question, and how you can become involved. To register for the webinar, please visit https://lnkd.in/eqTUZEGd. For more information about the workgroup and its planned approach, please contact Lynn Dekleva, American Chemistry Council, at lynn_dekleva@americanchemistry.com.

Last week, we were able to host the Western Caucus Foundation (WCF) at the Chevron Oronite facility in Belle Chasse, LA during the WCF's Energy and Conservation Field Tour and Forum. The site in Belle Chasse is a flagship site for Chevron Oronite. Employing around 400 employees and over 150 contractors, the site manufactures fuel and lubricant additives. We welcomed Chairman Dan Newhouse, nearly 40 senior congressional staff members, and 15 corporate sponsors of WCF. We also had opening remarks from the Plaquemines Parish President, Keith Hinckley. In addition to a tour of the facility, the attendees received an overview of the site and the company, along with a discussion surrounding regulatory overreach and how they are impacting our member companies. Thanks for a great visit!
