Another point to keep in mind is that, inspite of all the meticulous planning always be proactive and flexible about the shifting workload you are handling in your business. A case in point is when one of my customers shifted from Azure ESP to EA license to handle increasing work load and overwhelming monitoring requirement.

It is like any other expense. One has to plan it better. You can not start thinking about the cost after moving to the cloud so think cost from day 0. Create a hypothesis and set up scaling as required. Study the trends, and patterns and set up the execution plan accordingly. Continuously iterate on the plan. If you do not have resources & expertise, seek help rather than breaking the bank.

1) Choose a bare bone EC2 instance(Px) not fancy GPU. 2) If you decided serverless, use a lambda with function url. you don't need a VPC, API gate, route53 all of the bells and whistles. 3) Never forget to compress your files and covert your images to Base64 codes format before storing them into S3. Just recreate the image in display layer from the text! 4) Do you really need DynamoDB for POC? You can do all the stuff from S3 itself. Use Athena queries on json. 5) Serverless is a salesman lingo don't fall into it. What if your use case involves reusing the DB connection and someone sold you a lambda because it's cheap?!

Elastic services allow you to scale resources up or down based on demand, ensuring that you only pay for what you use. Auto-Scaling: Implement auto-scaling to automatically adjust resources based on real-time demand. Serverless Computing: Consider serverless options where you are charged only for the compute time you consume. During peak hours, such as evenings or weekends, the system automatically scales up virtual machine instances and bandwidth capacity to handle increased streaming requests. As viewer numbers decrease during off-peak times, resources scale down accordingly, minimizing costs. This elasticity ensures seamless user experiences without performance degradation, optimizing resource utilization and cost-efficiency. Spoiler alert, always regardless of your provider (but specially AWS) turned on cost tracking for my cloud services, ALWAYS this will help to have a budget breakdown for each project. after that you will see exactly where every penny goes. This helps me hold teams accountable and identify areas to save. No more mystery spending, just clear data to optimize the usage.
