It's not enough to illustrate a point in different terms, the terms (or descriptors in this context) need to be relevant to the audience. Obviously this takes quite a bit more research, but the engagement and overall message delivery will be much better than recycling the same old examples. Changing the material up also makes the material more interesting to the person delivering it as well.

The bank ensures the safety of your money, similarly, cloud services ensure the security of your data. 2. Cloud as a Utility 💡: Think of cloud services as utilities like electricity or water. You use them as needed and pay only for what you use. This can help clients understand the pay-as-you-go model of cloud services. 3. Cloud as a Restaurant 🍽️: Ordering a meal at a restaurant is similar to using a cloud service. You don’t need to know how the meal is prepared (the backend processes), you just enjoy the meal (the service).

Think of cloud computing like using electricity at home. Instead of generating your own power, you tap into a shared grid maintained by a utility company. In the same way, cloud computing allows you to access vast computing resources over the internet without having to maintain your own servers. You pay only for what you use, much like your electricity bill. This makes it cost-effective and scalable. Just as you trust the power company to ensure electricity is available and reliable, you can trust cloud providers to manage and secure your data and applications. But since you don't know what everyone in a meeting understands, it's always good to explain terms like "IaC" in full. In our example, "Infrastructure as Code" and I often go one step further and describe what is meant. This often brings a more general understanding of things and helps the customer to recognise an advantage for themselves 👍

For example, create a simple diagram that shows data moving from a user's device to the cloud and back. This can illustrate cloud storage and computing processes clearly. This must be avoided at all costs and tools such as whiteboards, slides, etc. are extremely helpful. That's why analogies, simple terms and visuals go hand in hand.
