Here's how you can choose a specific programming field to specialize in.

If you like puzzles and you enjoy learning then you're already half way to being a decent developer. The most fun I have at work is seeing a problem and trying to come up with an elegant solution to it. This doesn't mean you need to know everything about a language to be able to solve these issues, as long as you can use Google and ask the right questions anyone can do it.

You need to have good background in mathematics and analytical skills. Also you can solve complex challenges or break them into segments, then the understanding of the Programing language and how they are structured

First of all, you should start by looking at whether you enjoy the process of problem solving. For the most part, programming in any industry is all about problem solving in one way or another. Everything else can be learned and that brings us to the second point, you should enjoy learning because the world is a fast-paced place and you need to be constantly learning to be competitive

Whether you already master basic coding concepts or not, reflect on the languages and projects you have enjoyed, or if you haven't yet. When I was at university I programmed in C++ using QT, wrote scripts in python and made simple websites. After I finished university I got a job as a web developer and after a year my department was closed and I was offered to go to Unity department, I agreed and I can say that I like it more than web. So don't be afraid to make mistake with your choice, you can always change it

You shouldn't worry too much about which industry to choose, because in the end the most important thing is to start your path and don't be afraid to change the field of activity if you feel you're not in the right place

One big push for my company at the moment is AI engineers, these aren't people who write AI but understand enough of how they work to be able to use the right prompts to be able to get the answers they're looking for.

While passion is important, practicality cannot be ignored. Research the market demand in different programming fields, as long as what is in demand aligns with your interests.

Once you have clear in mind what you can do towards your expectations in life, take a good look at the nearest work opportunities with the qualifications you have. If there are none consider taking remote jobs where you can improve your existing skills and add new ones. Industry is changing constantly, but you will always have work if you are good in what you have chosen to be and work on self-improvement.

Paying attention to what the needs of the market are now or in the near future can provide your success in that field to a large extent, but there is also the case that the programming needs of the market may not be your favorite, I personally suggest to prioritize your skills and interest in choosing your programming field

There are still enough opportunities for classic trends. Yet, if you keep in touch with on-the-edge technologies, you have way more potential to make a change. It's not only about applying the technologies in your day-to-day tasks, but it is also good to know how you should design a roadmap towards the future.

Having passion and love for what you do especially in the field of programming which is a continuous journey of problem solving would keep you motivated. So many people couldn't keep up when it gets difficult simply cause they lack passion for the field.

One thing I have always tried to do is find something I care about and care deeply for it. That, to me, is front end software development. I love being able to design and implement the face of applications, using my understanding of both people and code to develop applications that are accessible and easy to use.

Gaining expertise is difficult. It requires years of dedication and study. Consistency and curiosity are essential to maintain your eagerness for daily learning. Engaging in a field you love will make the journey more enjoyable and the goal more achievable.

Passionate and willingness to learn and execute is most important thing. Take a moment or few hours to analyse the need and future scope of that specific technology so that it would be good for long run. Try to relate the technology with current trends with the tools which you don't feel is important but have potential in learning things in more collaborative and creative way. For example, I'm having in-hand practical experience with GCP which do help me in learning other Cloud providers as well like Oracle Cloud, Azure, AWS, focusing more on the services they provide and learn about the execution in more efficient way. The willingness to learn more in cloud help me get surrounded by different alternative and their scalable services.

I love traveling and flexibility. But at the same time, I know I won't push myself too hard to get the job done. I do not know how to organize my time, so at this point, I'd like to be managed by someone else. It depends on you to decide on this. But first of all, you should put yourself in different situations to understand how they work for you. Also, I recommend taking tests to know yourself better.

The type of your personality and your inclination to the type of work can determine your work field to a large extent. The degree of difficulty of the work, the degree of engagement with the work, the time you spend, the type of problems you like to deal with and... Your answer to these questions will determine your field of work
