it was amazing

The Great Gatsby is one of the greatest pieces of prose ever written in the English language. Most people, especially men, will easily relate to it, especially some of us who have ever obsessed over another person and the nostalgia conveyed within the narrative can easily be applied to the feeling one has when they think about their summers growing up.

It's not easy to write a story about a man who completely changes his life to impress a girl. Many questions come out of that very simple concept: like what if he grew up in her class and was able to marry her without discord? Would Gatsby's core be the same? Would he still be so head over heels in love with her that he would change his life? It's a hard question because the romantic in me would like to think that the core is the same, love is love, the reality part of me would say that he probably wouldn't be as obsessed with her. Obsession, to me, stems from not being able to have what you want.

Anyway, I could go on and on about this book... until then, beat on... boats against the current born back ceaselessly into the past!
