Zombies are not my thing, but I read about this book in the NY Times Book Review. Temple is a troubled fifteen year old that has seen and done gruesome things to survive in a post apocolyptic world, mostly on her own. When she tries to assimilate, she finds herself fending off an unwanted advance and kills her attacker, forcing her to flee. The attacker's brother, a kindred spirit, spends the rest of the book tracking her down for retribution. Temple's views of the world and worries about her own humanity are poignant. Bell has done a nice job wiritng a book where the zombies (meatskins, slugs, gobblers) are only background to compelling human drama.
