it was ok
bookshelves: classics, 20th-c-1900s-1930s

Oh this is a conflicting book. On the one hand I am not too taken with the writing style, nor could I really connect with the characters, but on the other hand it is quite haunting. This twenties vibe of lets party until we can forget we ever problems isn't helping anybody. They drink, the dance, the busy themselves with new cars and dresses to escape something. The war, past loves, each other. Either way it's always something. In the end though it solves nothing. As Gatsby soon learned it does not help to fill your house with people if they are not the right people.

So while the story itself was not too interesting the fact remains that good to see how people in the 20s truly thought and felt. Very enlightening.
