This book is what i was looking for, ages now, especially after i watched The Invasion with Nicole Kidman.
Even with 502 pages i thought it would be overwhelming but in fact i finished it so fast and honestly it's literally one of the best books I've seen my entire life! A parasite developed by a company to help humans get well from mild to serious illnesses and diseases that after years side effects take part. It follows Sally, the protagonist, after she had a car accident and fell into a coma, waking up after they planted this parasite to help her but she became a new person with no memories from her past. She and her boyfriend are trying to find answers of what's going on with the side effects and the ending just gave me chills...
The author also knows what she's doing but it makes sense. If I'm not mistaken she has attended seminars about Parasitology and classes so the book is brilliant written. Not just general information or overwhelming scientific terminologies and explanations that would make the reader to be confused or anything like that.
This is a book about a 0ost-Apocalyptic/Dystopian world we could be in. Amazing and i can't wait to read the next of the trilogy!!!...more

I enjoyed the fur-ball we see on the cover, Willis, who likes to mimic other people's voices and conversations so you can imagine how funny that could be but also crucial to the story that was unfolding.

You can imagine the small town of Innsmouth from the author's description, how the creatures look like and the aesthetic of horror Lovecraft tried to pass. The ending was very interesting and also bittersweet I'd say.
The only con (personally) is the amount of time he spent writing how the protagonist tried to escape from Innsmouth going here and there all the time and mentioning street names. I believe he could avoid giving that many details but that's my personal thought.
The book also included three other stories: The Moon-Bog, The Hound and Under The Pyramids. I read the first two and they are also good, especially The Moon-Bog but i didn't continue with Under The Pyramids because I'm not a big fan of Egyptian stories....more

Different characters, strong protagonists especially the female reporter and of course it describes to detail the world before the Second Martian War, durin the War and the Aftermath. They even land in different countries on the last pages and gives a different narrative than focusing on England only.
Now about the Cons i think these ones come to personal preference but the reader might find some paragraphs or Chapters (keep in mind it has in total 98 Chapters but change every 3-4 pages) overwhelming with details or descriptions or events that even if you skip them you won't miss anything. And another issue is the continued failure of the Mankind trying to defeat the alien Tripods without any effect. I get it they are more advanced at that period of time, 20th Century, than Humanity but still there should be a better way to handle their advance in this war.
In general its a MUST READ if you have finished the first book to end the storyline....more

Well that was a mind-blowing ending of the 5th issue and i hope we will get the next ones soon. I love these series. They are weird ( in a good way ), full of mystery, the artworks amazing and with nostalgic colors and i even hope to see them in the big screen one day!...more

It gives you chills and the format is like diary entries of the protagonist, screenshots from chats from him and other people, reddit threads, police reports and such. Easily a book that you can finish in two days.
When Matt's best friend goes missing is when everything begins. Because we see most of the stuff from Matt's perspective we don't see too much of Slenderman but we see things he does to Matt etc.
It made me feel stress of what would happen, the story is like in two timelines (March is the month everything happens and April is the month it shows some police reports about whoever went missing) so you know what's going on but it's very intriguing of how it ended there.
And it's also creepy. Everything that happens. I can write more on this review but I'll have to giveaway spoilers so you all definitely need to get that book.

It has a small influence from Eragon ( i won't say cause i don't want to spoil anything yet ) and i mention Eragon since i don't know if it's a myth, a general myth, for dragons. If you read it you'll understand. Before i bought it i read a couple of descriptions. Some said that many die like Game of Thrones. That's not true. There are a couple of deaths at the begin and following the story some more but it's not even close to the ASOIAF series. However i liked the fact that each chapter has maximum four pages and that makes you feel way too comfortable and you can read even fifty pages in an afternoon.
The story is interesting, has mystery and you follow lot of characters. You will hate those that must be loved and love that must be hated and one more positive thing is that it doesn't say much for their past and it focus on the present. Yet, the dragons have a normal existence and by normal i mean realistic. They can be hurted and if you read the book's description they kept tamed by alchemists so the riders can lead them do what they want. Soon enough that will change and it's very interesting the way that happens. It happens on the right time, the right moment as we say. It's a very good book and can't wait to read the continue !...more

I just finished this book. Probably the best one so far !!!
Scott Lynch went on another level with this story. It had all what i would like to see, since the previous two ones. Our protagonists, Locke and Jea, finally Sabetha and of course flashbacks of the other memebers of Gentlemen Bastards ! It gives a damn good taste on what everyone was and what became. I felt hate and sympathy for Sabetha and i enjoyed the humor of Sanzas twins. However i was wondering that since the series are sevens books and already the three of them came out, what Locke and Jean would do. Going from scheme to scheme to make fortunes and build their names while something bad happens and they cancel it would be not that much interesting. Well, the author just gave a dark and grimm taste to the story. What dig into Locke ( the one magi who used his body ? ) made it very interesting and i'm still having chills from the scene with the artwork of Lamor Acanthus and the mention of him getting into Locke's body, like a spirit. So that gives us a brief idea of what might come next. Perhaps that ego will overrule Locke and he might harm someone close to him ? I don't know, i just want to read the next one which is coming a year, almost, from now and i hope it won't be delayed again !
PS: Now i want a book with the play " The Republic of Thieves " !!!...more

It wasn't boring, i just took a break from reading it. And i came after five months and read the other half i had too and... and... damn you Mark Lawrence, you have your way to make me tear up. He's writting style is unique and the imagination that exists in this brilliant mind it's a rare thing for me to admit on an author.
