I finished the book yesterday night in the wee hours. Didn't manage to summon the power to log in here and mark my final updates because I was lying in bed, listening to the last 3 hours on audio. Fell asleep and dreamed of blazing fireball of light and motion crashing into the ground, sending out a ring of Stormlight like white smoke! It was glorious and epic just like this entire book! I finally had to quit copying/highlighting every sentence that gave me a thrill - there are just so many. I really don't think I can give this book justice with any review. It's so vast, you can hardly imagine the scale of all things in. But I'll try. Full review to come shortly....more
I remember liking some aspects of this book even more than the original Mistborn trilogy. And it was a bin Re-read in preparation for Shadows of Self.
I remember liking some aspects of this book even more than the original Mistborn trilogy. And it was a binge read of all 4 books and my very first Sanderson. Curios to see what I'll make of it now.
This^ also was more than two years ago and I remember almost nothing so it should be fun I think .... ;)...more
My first finished read for 2014 shines with five colorful BioChromatic* stars. I'm beyond happy that my reading year has started so great!

Sanderson can tell a tale. And because it is Sanderson we have another excellent magic system using a combination of *breath and colour to bring entities to life and make them perform all manner of miracles and mischief. It's not so spectacular, complex and detailed as Allomancy in Mistborn but still very interesting, beautiful and far more close to my liking.
Characters and characterization is one of Sanderson’s strongest points and it's not different here. This book is about the personal growth of two princesses who are sisters and the God King one must merry; another god who doubts his own divinity(his self-deprecating humor made half of the story for me); a sword who can read minds and his mysterious owner(I love their banter) and how/why all of them act at the brink of war between two nations.
To be continued ... full review to come till the end of next week....more
