However, I found that re-reading it now, years later, I was a little less enchanted by it. The main reason is the action seemed to slow down a lot at various points. The later books in the series were a lot faster-paced and more enjoyable. Still, I liked this and I did like that Nancy is a little less "perfect" in this book than the later ones. For example, in this book, she is locked in a closet at one point and has a genuine meltdown, something she would never have been caught dead doing in the future. Overall, I'd give it a 3.5 rounded up. I am just so glad Nancy Drew was created, by whichever ghost writer wants to take credit for her, for I feel I would not enjoy reading as much as I do today without my early influence of Nancy books....more
