I felt this book had so much potential and started out great but by about page 100 or, it was a true struggle to keep turning said pages. It really began to lag in the middle and ended up limping towards the finish line. Ellie (the main character) likened her journey to the movie Groundhog Day. I totally agree. She really did run around in circles, repeating her same steps over and over. It got tiring. I am not sure if I would read a book by this author again or not....more

I don't know what to say about this book except: These characters are all fundamentally mental! One sad case after another. I am glad the last story ("Lucinda's Song") gave us a smidgen of hope, but the rest of the book was darned depressing. And weird. Really weird. Not my cup of tea at all. Well-written but totally not my style of book....more

Derick is as close to perfect as you can find in any man and yet whenever he does something she doesn't like, she throws a colossal fit and dumps him. Every.damn.time. It's making me crazy. I hope in the last book (which I've already ordered), for once she has to fight for him for a change. So far, she is bringing nothing but baggage to this relationship.
That said, even as mad as I get at Siobhan, she and Derick are smoking hot together which is why I'm being generous and giving this four stars....more

Derick was always going out of his way to show he loved her and she rebuffed him more than once for dumb reasons. I hope in the sequel (which I plan to read!) that she realizes he's the Real Deal....more

The story has potential and it's sweet and clean, but the main protagonist is a bit of a Debbie Downer to be honest. I really didn't enjoy r2.5 stars.
The story has potential and it's sweet and clean, but the main protagonist is a bit of a Debbie Downer to be honest. I really didn't enjoy reading about her although I liked other characters in the books, such as her new friend Serena and her quasi-little sister, Claudette. That said, I am in no hurry to read more of these books. In fact, this one ended in such a way that another book (and another, there are like 6 more) seems unnecessary. I did like the idea of an old diary giving inspiration for new, modern adventures though. I recommend this read to young girls about 10-12 years of age....more

I ended up resenting Rachel at alternate points, hating Anna, and feeling very sorry for Megan. It was quite a page-turner. I can't wait to see what Ms. Hawkins comes up with next!...more
