The premise: Before the heroine goes to college she wants to lose her virginity so that she has some "experience" enter, the later 'Hero' and her brother's friend. THERE IS SO MANY THINGS wrong with this! I just can't. BYE!...more

She is so good at making the reader FEEL what the characters are feeling instead of just being told what they are feeling.
This book is about an emotionally abused woman who works up the courage to leave her husband, escape to Texas, and lands a meager job on a Texas ranch thanks to her half sister. Of course, her previous husband was Hollywood producer so she's used to living the high life.
Enter the Hero, who happens to be the ranch owner, and automatically assumes that she is a spoiled princess, and dislikes her from the start. Here we have: enemies to lovers trope, my CATNIP!
Grey does SUCH a good build up with these two characters, and we get a unique opportunity to get into the Hero's head as well with alternating POVs. I dug it. Even the sex scene was completely from the guy's perspective, which is rare!
The Hero was just the right amount of asshole, with the right amount of sweetness that made up for said prickishness. The heroine, despite her unfortunate mental batterings from her ex-husband, is strong, and not too proud to clean toilets if it means making money and starting her life over. Completely respected her and loved her.
Honorable mention goes to the Hero's grandma, Edith as well. She is SO snarky, and a pure Texan at heart :)
I loved this read SO much, I will be reading another R.S. Grey book VERY soon!...more
