He remarried later, but didn't return to Deerfield (who would want to?)...Deerfield was on the intersection of well know trails and "Natives" were constantly in the area to the point that it wasn't safe to go out into the forest to look for a lost cow. I found the story about the door that survived very intriguing. WELL worth it to read this book! I actually discovered that two more of my dad's lines were in Deerfield and are mentioned in the book....more
