A trope I have seen fail time and time again is the girl best friend trope, but this time, it didn’t fail. On top of that, there was also a dual POV layout in this book but set with Murray during ‘Marry Me, Juliet’ and Lily’s set in the past over the years of her and Murray’s friendship. In saying that, there were a lot of holes in this book and it probably should’ve been fleshed out a lot more. I wanted more world-building too; I felt like I was thrown in without context and had to figure it out as the book progressed. I’m interested to see what the second book is like, even if I wanted more from Lightlark.

There was too much going on and different elements would randomly pop up and then return again later; it felt really forced. I think a few elements should’ve been the focus. I did think the divorced family and coping that was explored throughout was well done and so central and interesting, I definitely had an emotive response to those scenes.
I’m going to rate this on my overall enjoyment of the book as it was pretty good and I was definitely in the right mood read it....more
