Struggling to find the perfect Christmas gift? Step into Romantic Daze …
Daisy Kirk is a sucker for a love story, which is why she opened up her gift shop – because there’s nothing that makes Daisy happier than when she’s helped a customer achieve their own ‘happily ever after’ by finding the perfect Christmas gift for their loved one. And she absolutely does not just sell ‘soppy presents and frilly pants’ as her brother’s infuriating best friend, Eli, is so fond of suggesting.
The sad fact is that whilst Daisy is helping others with their love lives, hers is non-existent. But when unusual circumstances take Daisy and Eli on a road trip from London to rural Wales, will she finally get the happily ever after to her own Christmas love story?

Daisy’s Christmas Gift Shop by Hannah Pearl is a 2019 Choc Lit/Ruby Fiction publication.

Heartwarming Christmas Intrigue!!

Daisy’s special gift shop is the place to go for that intimate and personal gift for the special person in your life. But while Daisy is busy making everyone else’s romantic dreams come true, her own love life is non-existent. To make matters worse, she hasn’t fully gotten over her crush on her brother Ben’s best friend, Eli. However, she and Eli can’t seem to be in the same room together without constantly bickering.

Because Eli and Ben’s work is filled with secrecy and intrigue, they can be a little demeaning to Daisy about her shop. But things take a frightening and sinister turn, when Ben, who is on the spectrum, gets tired of hearing Daisy and Eli argue and runs away.

While searching for Ben they begin to think Ben may be in danger- in more ways than one! Can Eli and Daisy put their differences behind them to rescue Ben?

Holiday novels are plentiful, all full of heartwarming stories and good cheer. But a holiday romance with action and adventure?

Yes, please!!

The author puts a unique spin on holiday romance stories- and that’s a good thing! I enjoyed the wicked banter between Daisy and Eli and the mad cap adventure they embark on. Ben, who apparently suffers from autism or Asperger’s, gets a prominent feature in the book, when he makes a very unusual connection. The plot has a curious mix of offbeat characters, situations, and unconventional love stories, as well as the traditional holiday sentiments. As a result, I found the book to be highly entertaining and one of the most original holiday romance books I’ve read so far this year!

Daisy Kirk owned Romantic Daze – when all who shopped there left happy. Her customers made appointments to return time and again, so pleased they were with the results. But Daisy was still single, although the one she’d loved for what seemed like a lifetime wasn’t within reach. Daisy’s twin brother Ben and his best friend Eli worked together in a place Daisy (or anyone else) wasn’t to know about. But when Ben disappeared just prior to Christmas, both Daisy and Eli were frantic to find him. The circumstances of him vanishing meant they worried more…

As the two of them followed an uncertain trail from London to Wales, they had no idea what was ahead of them. Would they find Ben? And would Daisy find love?

Daisy’s Christmas Gift Shop by Hannah Pearl is a lighthearted, fun adventure with a Christmas tinge and a sprinkling of romance. Some great characters – Lily who was Daisy’s best friend but as different to her as light is to day. Daisy was a heartwarming character, very likeable and Daisy and Ben’s dad was great; especially by the end of the book. Recommended.

With thanks to Choc Lit publishers for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

I love discovering a set of new characters and I loved everyone in this book is amazing. Daisy, Eli and best friend Lily go on a manhunt after it appears someone has kidnapped her brother Ben and they have a race against time to find him before Christmas.

Daisy and Eli fall for each other and try and work out why it didn't work out when they were younger. I love best friend Lily and she might actually be my favourite of them all. She's so free and open and I'm intrigued by her sex shop job. There's quite a few side characters and it would be nice to see how they all develop. I've got the follow up to read so with a bit of luck I'll start to see that.

And it's great to see a person like Ben depicted. Without being labelled he appears to be on the Autistic spectrum and as a parent of an adult autistic son I'm so happy to see some represented especially one who has a good job and a relationship and living a full life.

It's a lovely heartwarming story and yeah I'm reading Christmas stories in May but the Xmas backrop doesn't really take over. It's fun and I'm looking forward to the follow up

This was one fun ride of a romance with a bit of thrill and action.

Daisy had always loved Eli. But after a night of love, he moved away. He was best friends with Ben, her twin brother. But circumstances changed in a family crisis where the two had to spend time together on a road trip. Love blossomed, and Eli really understood the passion behind Daisy's Romantic Daze shop.

My second book by author Hannah Pearl saw me smiling as I read through the prose. Her characters have always radiated positivity and strength. And there was always something to be cherished from the relationships described.

In this book too, Daisy and best friend Lily stole my heart. Their friendship had the perfect amount of love and caring, which was endless. I loved their bond. They knew and understood each other, sometimes, words were redundant between them.

Daisy was innocent and so honest. Her feelings shone through the words. Eli was the one for her, and she stayed true. I would have loved to see more of her skirmishes with her brother Ben. I wanted to see the warmth between siblings, but that's a minor point and I was just being greedy.

Overall, a cute romance where the characters found their way back to each other even when they had to take the long route from London to rural Wales. But that's the beauty of love. It finds the hearts it is supposed to reside in. And Hannah Pearl has shown me that beautifully. Love and relationship was never better described than by her. She said, I quote (with minor changes)

The gifts exchanged between the loved ones were a celebration of lifetimes spent together

I adore this! It is so heart-warming, it’s like being wrapped in a huge comforting bear hug. I did think that this would be a very sweet, run of the mill Christmassy romance where two warring factions finally get together, not that, that is a bad thing, I do love a cosy festive romance – I may not particularly like Christmas too much, but Christmas stories are my Achilles heel, I love them whether they are sweet or surprising and this is definitely the latter. It is far more then what you originally presume it to be, I loved that surprise slightly quirky twist, you do sit up and go; “Did that really happen?” which makes you fly through the rest of the book at lightning speed, yearning to know what happens.
This is only my second book by Hannah Pearl, having loved the first book I was excited to read more of Hannah’s work, I love her fun, original and classically romantic style which keeps the reader turning the pages, and this did not disappoint.
I really, really liked Daisy, she is a sweet unassuming character, she sees life in black and white. She broke my heart at times with her innocence, there is something very real about her, she is life long romantic who loves a good love story, plus she loves to help people who come into her little gift shop to find that one perfect item and to help them on their way to their own fairy-tale love story. But as much as she may love romance and happily ever after, she never has had one of her own and this is one of the things that I do like about Daisy she may have her head in the fluffy true love clouds, but deep down she is a realist. She has lived her life thinking she isn’t going to have her happily ever after, not when the man she has loved since she was a child doesn’t love her. She had on night of passion with gorgeous Eli, before he then moved away and made a life and a rather notorious name for himself, since he has proven time and time again that there is nothing between them, he is a playboy, an adventurer, he doesn’t want to settle down into an everyday real bliss. But when something happens, and even that makes them come together on a road trip that could change them both.
I love the character’s they are all so different, yet they really gel together, there may be animosity but there is love and friendship too. The relationships between daisy and the other character’s are beautifully written, Daisy and her brother Ben are like all siblings they love one and other and want the best for each other, yet they do know the way under the other’s skin. I love the friendship between Daisy and her best friend Lily, theirs is a friendship we all need in our life, there is an unbreakable bond between these two women, they know each other inside out and are always there.
Overall a wonderfully tender and exciting romance, that will take the reader on a surprising adventure, one that is full of friendship, loyalty, love, positivity and wrapped up with a charming festive bow.

Daisy’s living the romantic dream… of other people. Running a specialty gift shop where she helps people find that perfect gift for their loved ones, she’s an expert at answering the question ‘what do you get the person who has everything?’ Her own love life is nonexistent, though, mainly because she’s massively hung up on Eli, her brother Ben’s best mate. One disastrous night 10 years ago was it for their relationship, and ever since then she’s had to watch as player Eli breaks hearts all over town.

This is, in a lot of ways, a story about Eli growing up and seeing what he wants has been right in front of him all along. He’s the one who gets the character growth in this story, even though Daisy’s the central character. Daisy’s delightful and it’s frustrating to watch Eli fail to realize this repeatedly. He does some decent things, like swapping her meat for his veg when her brother Ben forgets to order her vegetarian meals at a restaurant, but he also does some appalling stuff like bailing on Daisy after sleeping with her and then avoiding her for days. By the end of the book, he really does seem to have grown up and realized how lucky he is that Daisy’s willing to accept him flaws and all, and I did believe in the HEA of their romance.

I had some issues with Daisy’s brother Ben’s portrayal; it seemed blatantly obvious that Ben was on the autism spectrum (genius techy with bad people skills, who ‘never lies and doesn’t understand why other people do’) and yet, the A word was never mentioned. Everyone just talks about Ben’s quirks and Daisy, unfortunately, tends to infantilize him which leads to Ben’s new girlfriend quite understandably not liking Daisy very much. Daisy’s outraged about it, but it’s the girlfriend who’s played as the psycho, which didn’t sit very well with me. Yes, Daisy did face up to her faults and accept that her treatment of Ben needed to change, but the whole thing just felt off, at least in part because Ben’s autism was never acknowledged. And if you’re telling me that a 28-year-old man with a sensitive job for the British government hasn’t been diagnosed, in this day and age, you’re telling me porkies.

Even though Daisy was a delightful character - and her friend Lily the sex-positive retailer was a breath of fresh air - I had some issues with the portrayal of an autistic character in the book which keep me from giving it a full five stars. I did enjoy the read, though, and I’d definitely read more by this author in the future.

This is a heartwarming second chance romance with her brother's best friend!

Daisy and Ben Kirk are fraternal twins. She owns a gift shop, Romantic Daze, where she tries to help customers find that special gift for their partner and not just for Christmas, though that's when she's busiest. She lives in a flat above the shop and her father and brother live in a flat above hers. This close knit family also includes Ben's best friend, Eli, who has always joined the family for meals, events and just about everything. When they were sixteen Eli and Daisy were a couple but things went wrong, though Daisy has always loved him. She's surprised when she's invited to join him and Ben attending a wedding reception, along with Erin who works with Ben. Daisy is definitely getting mixed messages from Eli. He seems to be attracted to her again but can she trust him with her heart again? When Ben disappears he's the person who comes to her aid. Will this help break down the barriers to their potential HEA or is there no chance for love?

This is a fun story and something of a surprise to me as it is an intriguing tale with potential spies, new folk to investigate, the search for Ben and several romances all intertwined in a mystery. Get ready for dramatic chases, a country cottage, ferry journey, seasickness and laughs as this story unfolds. It is a great read that certainly left me with a smile on my face!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

*I voluntarily reviewed this book from the tour organiser.

The old saying, 'Never judge a book by its cover', has never been truer than for DAISY'S CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOP by Hannah Pearl which has action, adventure, and a hint of danger, as well as love, family, and the real meaning of friendship.

Daisy Kirk believes in true, everlasting love, and she has seen it with her own eyes between her parents, even if her Dad lost his spark when their mother died all those years ago. She knows that real love exists and she sees it every day in her clients who come to her special shop to find that something extra-special for their loved ones, even though she struggles with her own love-life. Well, if Daisy was honest, she fell in love years ago with her brother's best friend, Eli, who managed to break her heart. And if she was brutally honest with herself, Daisy would admit that she is still in love with Eli for the kindness he shows her family and the love he has for them all, even if they cannot stop snapping at each other in temper. But when her brother goes missing and could possibly be in danger, Daisy and Eli will join forces, with some extra special help from Daisy's bestie and a possible admirer, and do whatever they must to find him. But the more time they spend together, the more heat flares to life between them. But can Daisy ever find the love she deserves with someone who doesn't believe in happily-ever-after?

This book contained so many surprises that I found myself racing through it because I just had to know what was going to happen, and DAISY'S CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOP did not disappoint. I loved all of the characters, especially Daisy's open and honest best friend, and there was honestly never a dull moment.

DAISY'S CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOP by Hannah Pearl is a cracking good story and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General Fiction ( Adult), Romance

I loved the characters here, geeky Ben, who seems bit of a strange guy in a way, he's got some strange quirks in how he relates to people and social events and yet with computers hes a genius. He reminded me a bit of someone on the Autism/Asperger spectrum with his single minded focus on problem solving, his OCD tidiness and dislike of loud noise/arguing. It was good to see someone like that in a novel, to show that people are more than their disability, whether mentally of physically and have value to society. I understood his frustration at the way Eli and his family were overprotective, even as I understood their need to look after him. Its all done from Love but doesn't stop it being frustrating.
Daisy was wonderful and her shop adorable. I'd love to have a place like that. Her friend Lily was great too and her shop – well, it made me smile so much and the teddies....especially the one that gets involved in the adventure! Loved it. Of course there's Eli too, Daisy's long time love, even though it came to nothing. He's a goregueos guy, but I felt I needed to understand more why he felt the way he did about love, why he clearly feels strongly for Daisy yet has spent years chasing after every other woman. Cody, she came in later in the book bur was another terrific character. There's one person I did not like, and an action of Ben's that just didn't really feel right to me, some was due to just how he is, but part felt just wrong. Still, I'm sure its perfect for others of course, everyone likes different stories.
That's the issue I had though, I loved the characters, loved the, they were so well drawn, I felt they had so much to give and yet the story just didn't do them justice for me. I felt it was a long chase of and about nothing, just drawn out and a few comedic, almost slapstick elements thrown in. It just didn't feel real, seem genuine, and that's an issue for me. The ending happened so suddenly that even though it was the result I wanted, I felt it was there and gone, far too quick.

Stars: Three, an easy read, wonderful characters but the storyline fell a bit flat for me.

Are you looking for a Christmas Romance that is full of far, far more than you expected once you open the book and start living in the story? Then you’ll want to go find DAISY’S CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOP, right now. On the surface, Daisy’s story is of love seemingly not returned, of dealing with heartache and moving forward with her own joy in her Romantic Daze shop, doing something she loves which is interacting with people about one of the greatest holidays around – Christmas, and helping them find that ‘just right’ gift for someone important in their lives.

If this story were only about that it would be a great story, but it’s more. There are twists here, emotions finally allowed to come to the surface and two people who always were right for each other finally taking the risk of opening up their hearts to possibilities. An unexpected emergency road trip will put Eli and Daisy together, in the same spot, for long enough that the sparks can reignite into a future together.

I started their story expecting a light Christmas romance, what I discovered is a world full of interesting, at times annoying people, a bit of suspense, lots of humor, and the feels that bring any story to life for me. I had a fantastic time with DAISY’S CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOP and I would not hesitate one second in recommending this story that has heart, laughter, the craziness of family, and a love that finally finds its way home. I loved it and I think you will, too.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, ChocLit/Ruby Fiction. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The story of this book was so heartwarming and feel-good. And it wasn’t your typical festive rom-com, it was all of that and more. There was also lots of action and adventure.

Daisy’s story with her brother’s friend Eli was the key story to the book and it was how their relationship developed that kept me turning the page. The relationship between the characters was also great with their varying personalities, especially Ben, Daisy’s brother and her best friend Lily.

There was so much action that happened over the book that made me speed through the book wanting to know what happened next.

I did find that I didn’t get absorbed into the characters like I find I would normally, I felt like I didn’t know them quite well enough. This didn’t however stop me from enjoying the book, because I really did!

For those of you that aren’t big Christmas fans, this was only an underlying theme to the story so make sure you still pick this up!

A great story to curl up on these grey days.

Don’t waste your time with this book! Picked this up for a light Christmas-themed read since the cover artwork and blurb suggested a cute story. Within pages was quickly mistaken since it immediately became oversexualised and distasteful with references to a sex shop, sexpo, various sex toys etc.

The ironic part is that I picked this up at the book store with the intention to pre-read it before gifting it to a younger sister as it seemed cute but instead turned out extremely inappropriate, and I put it away in the discard pile within the first chapter. This is yet another reminder for any parents or teachers like myself that every single book needs to be pre-read before giving it to your kids or in your classroom, no matter how inconspicuous the cover or blurb may seem. Also quite frustrating as I have tried researching books to save me reading them but there aren’t enough resources providing such info online. Will just have to stick to timeless classics and proof-reading them all! Very dissapointed.

Daisy believes in true love and romance, if fact she has built her whole career on it spending her days offering a bespoke gift finding service to celebrate her customers devotion to each other. The only trouble is she is single despite being in love for years with the same guy, her twin brothers best friend. A brief fling in their teens has left Daisy pining for Eli despite him parading his latest conquests in front of her over the years. It’s unrequited love at it’s very worst and despite encouragement from best friend Lily Daisy has no intention of ‘moving on’.

With their relationship hanging somewhere between sibling quarrels and sexual tension the pair find themselves thrown together in order to help Daisy’s brother. Heading off on an unscheduled road trip they don’t have any choice but to communicate and find a way for their friendship to work, but will the threat of another man on the horizon make Eli realise the one for him has been there all along or will Daisy finally find the courage to leave Eli behind to find her own happily ever after?

I simply adored everything about this book as it offered such a refreshingly different take on the run of the mill rom-com’s I usually read. The story is filled with mystery and intrigue mainly focused around Ben and Eli’s job which added an added dimension to the story. I particularly enjoyed Daisy’s efforts at turning detective to help her brother, her love and passion for her sibling just dripped from the page.

The characters in this book are wonderfully written especially Ben who I think may be on the autistic spectrum? It’s fabulous to see this represented so beautifully, it’s not something I have seen done before. Daisy’s best friend Lily is another personal favourite, adding some fabulous humour with stories from her job at an adult store as well as the wonderfully close relationship she shares with Daisy.

Daisy’s shop sounds simply magical and thanks to Hannah’s descriptive writing style I could vividly imagine myself standing inside. The customers stories about their relationships were really sweet and left me grinning like a Cheshire cat with that warm fuzzy feel good feeling, the real barometer of a good romantic read.

Whilst Daisy’s Christmas Gift Shop is marketed as a festive read I wouldn’t be discouraged if that’s not your thing as it’s not too ‘in your face’. Yes, it’s Christmassy and yes it’s certainly helped me get in the mood for the festive season, but there is so much more substance to the story.

This book is a quick, easy read that gave me all the feel-good vibes that I love alongside a whole heap of action and mystery that I wasn’t expecting. This is the first of Hannah’s book’s I have read, but it certainly won’t be the last as I loved every second of this one which has left me wanting more! A highly recommended, heartwarming story ideal for those dark nights.

This was a lovely read full of surprises for me as a reader! I was expecting a light and fun read full of romance - there was plenty of that but also a more darker, thrilling side with the main characters having to track down a missing family member, that took them all out of their comfort zone.

And the comfort zone for Daisy is her lovely gift shop, Romantic Daze! It's her happy place and she's all about helping other people finding the right gift for loved ones, whilst never getting the happy ever after for herself! She's always been a romantic but never seems to be lucky in love.

In the background there's always been her twin brothers' best friend Eli - they seem to have a flirty but argumentative relationship! There's always that spark between them which is really exciting to observe - it's like when you were at school and a boy would say mean things to you, and that would mean he fancied you!

A character I really enjoyed was Lily - she's the best friend of Daisy and also runs the local sex shop so there's lots of fun to be had there in this book! She's a great support to Daisy and is of the opinion 'if you've got it, flaunt it'!!

With a new bloke on the scene, you get to wonder if that will push Eli and Daisy together on a more permanent basis, but their attention is soon turned by the disappearance of her brother and that brought new twists to the storyline that made it even more compelling to get through each page to see if Daisy would get the happy ending she so richly deserves!!

"You're selling memories to people who were happier in the past and need to remember what it used to be like."

2 Stars.

It started off quite interesting, but after a kidnapping, a wedding proposal to said kidnapper, and a lot of bullshit and sex later this book went down to 2 stars. I didn't feel this book and what I hoped it would be is in no way close to what it is!

Oh my! I think my heart has just well and truly melted into a pile of mush. You honestly couldn’t ask for a better bunch of characters to make a novel truly heartwarming.

Daisy runs a gift shop specialising in exquisite and bespoke romantic gifts. She has a close relationships with her dad, twin brother Ben (who seems to have autistic traits ) and her best friend. To add to this she has a complex relationship with Ben’s best friend Eli that seems to shift between sibling banter and flirty innuendos.

The relationship between Daisy and Ben is very touching and it’s fantastic to see a character with Ben’s quirks and difficulties who is represented as having a good job and a happy life. Daisy is a sweet and gentle character and is balanced by her best friend Lily who is the complete opposite. Together they make such a friendship goals pair. The banter between Eli and Daisy is amusing and very sibling like and despite being depicted a little as the bad guy in the beginning, I loved him from the start.

Despite being surrounded by loved one, Daisy’s own love life is non existent. I think it’s clear there is only one person who will fill that void fully for her. When Ben becomes tired of their squabbling and disappears, a frantic Daisy and Eli have to work and travel together to find him. Their obvious love for Ben is such a sweet addition to the story and a brilliant way to bring two characters together.

This book has sweet and tender moments, crazy characters and a whole lot of humour. It’s a heartwarming read and I cannot recommend it enough.

Creative Mystery Romance

I really got drawn into this book, trying to figure out in the first half what it was going to be about romance-wise. Then, the intrigue picked up in the second half of the adventure. There were a nice wider variety of interesting characters, including Lily and her occupation
( or preoccupation), the lady manning the boat service desk, Ben with his seeming innocence but perhaps greater ability to simplify everything into patterns, Taylor
(hmmm, unexplained intrigue for a
future story), and Cody, another potential future story. And Erin- wow, a chance for being understood and perhaps forgiven and allowed to grow with exploring mental health issues. I loved Daisy's human-ness and big heart. So glad it looks like she is getting her dream come true.

I enjoyed the introduction to Daisy and co. Daisy owns a small shop below her Dad's home and she sells unique gifts to people, always trying to source the perfect gift. Her best friend Lily works in a sex shop and her Brother Ben and the man she is in love with Eli work on secret missions.

The book takes everyone on an adventure when Ben goes missing and I liked the way that Ben's autism was brought into the book through subtle situations that made you realise that he had a disability.

The adventure gives Daisy the opportunity to spend time with Eli and try to make him realise how much she loves him.

I'm just about to start the second book in the series Daisy's Summer Mission and I'm looking forward to seeing what has been going on with everyone.

Not your average romance story, funny, quirky and heartwarming in a lovely way. Going on the journey with Daisy to find her brother and the calamities and quite hilarious situations she finds herself in makes for a great book.

I have a rather embarrassing confession to make. Although I have a couple of Hannah's books on my ever increasing 'to be read' pile I haven't actually got around to reading one...………….until now that is. I read the synopsis for 'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop' and it sounded like just my kind of read. So when I was invited to take part in the blog tour for 'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop', I thought that it was an ideal opportunity to acquaint myself with Hannah's work. Now I am rather annoyed that I have left it this long to realise just how flipping fantastic an author she is. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop' but more about that in a bit.
I couldn't help but take to Daisy from the first moment I met her. She is a young woman, who has a fondness for romance and she owns a shop, which caters for those wishing to recreate specific past romantic experiences or for those wishing to inject a dose of romance into their relationships. No it isn't an 'Adults Only' shop- that's more her friend's line of work. She lives at the back of the shop and her brother and father live upstairs. Daisy lost her mother some years before and unsurprisingly this has left a big hole in not just her heart but the hearts of her brother and father too. When the story begins, Daisy is single although she has a specific fondness for her brother's best friend, Eli. They flirt with each other, they kiss and then something always seems to go wrong. Throughout the book I just kept wanting to jump inside the pages of the book to bang heads together and just tell them to cut the crap and get on with it. I just felt it was the time for plain speaking. There could be trouble on the horizon though because a new business is opening up across the street from Daisy's business and Daisy is fretting that she may lose her shop. Is Daisy's business under threat? Is Daisy set to get together with Eli? Will Daisy get the happy ever after ending that she so deserves? Well for the answers to those questions and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
Oh my word, 'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop' was just the tonic I needed. I had been feeling pretty rotten after a fair bit of bad news and I just needed something that would distract me and would leave me with a smile on my face. This book did all that and then some. I haven't chuckled as much as I chuckled reading this book in a long, long time. I soon became addicted to reading 'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop'. This book is one of those books that is an unputdownable page turner of a read. I didn't want to miss a single second of the story. I think part of my addiction to the book was the fact that I had taken so well to Daisy that I began to think of her as a friend and so I had to keep reading because I needed to know how things panned out for her. I was completely under this book's spell from the moment I first picked it up until the moment I finished the last word on the last page. This book was a delight to read from start to finish.
I also loved the fact that this book had a large dose of humour, which made me chuckle and at the same time made me think of some of my own experiences. Although I hasten to add that I have never had men coming to blows over me, apart from in my dreams- Chris Hemsworth vs Hugh Jackman. No, Daisy's reaction to some of the products that her friend has in the 'Adults Only' shop reminded me of the reaction that I had when myself and a friend went to look round an 'Adults Only' shop in the Czech Republic because we owed it to a mutual friend to do so. We said we had to go and look round the shop in honour of this mutual friend. This mutual friend is much more knowledgeable about the 'Adults Only' sorts of products. The particular day we went round the shop, I certainly got an education and there were certain products that were enough to make your eyes water. Anyway that's enough of my own experiences before I blush too much.
'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop' is fantastically written. The author has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. Hannah certainly knows how to draw you into the story from the first word on the first page. Once Hannah has your attention, she keeps it for the duration of the story. The author has created endearing characters that will seem so realistic that they are just as real as you or I. I love the way in which the author has combined the drama with the humour. There are moments that made me feel emotional and then over the page there were moments that made me chuckle. Hannah writes so realistically and uses such vivid descriptions that I really did feel as though I was part of the story myself.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Daisy's Christmas Gift Shop' and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. Now that I have discovered just how fantastic an author Hannah is, I will be reading her other books just as soon as I can. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
