He was Mr. Wrong until he did everything right. When Interior Decorator Zoe Sutherland is offered the career-building opportunity of a life time – working on super star architect Dale Cavallo’s glamorous new hotel – she’s thrilled...until she meets Dale. He may be the most handsome and sexy man she’s ever met, but he’s also the most arrogant and mysterious. He denies her access to the hotel’s floor plans, interfering with her ability to work. And when she stands her ground and challenges him, his smoldering looks threaten to derail her focus and remind her that there is more to life than work. Dale’s life is his career. He enjoys women, but has a love 'em and leave 'em attitude, which has worked until Zoe. She fires up more than his libido and one night of loving is not nearly enough. He wants more. That she might be out to steal the plans of his more daring project to date, has him thinking that perhaps he should keep this potential enemy even closer…in his bed.

I have been reading love stories for as long as I can remember and when I ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James The Brontë sisters, etc. during my studies, I was hooked for life.
I married my college boyfriend and soul mate and we are fortunate to live in the picturesque little seaside village of Betty's Bay, South Africa with the ocean a block away and a beautiful mountain right behind us. And although life so far has not always been an easy ride, it has always been an exiting and interesting one!
I like the heroines in my stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong. And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous! My stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.

Touched To The Soul is book #2 in a romance series around strong women from the Sutherland Family and powerful handsome men from the Cavallo family. The books are primarily set in South Africa and are quick easy read romances with popular storylines and happy ever after endings.

The story takes off at the wedding of Caitlin Sutherland and Don Cavallo, and is the tale of Zoe and Dale. Zoe is a successful interior designer and Dale is a hotel owner. There is already an underlying interest between the couple but when they share a kiss at the wedding reception, sparks start flying. Sensible headed Zoe, needs to put some distance between herself and this man that she can't stop thinking about. She's already refused to be his new interior designer and she hot foots it off to London for several months.

But time and distance do nothing to dampen the flames of desire they both feel. When she returns to South Africa, she finds Dale has already signed her company contract and she is forced to work closely with him. The next few working days are a dance around their emotions until they finally get together, but it's not going to be an easy ride.

A sweet romance with a dose of heat for readers and a satisfying ending.

I thoroughly enjoyed Elsa’s book Touched to the Heart, and so I picked up this book excited to immerse myself back in this story world. The book did not disappoint at all: I was delighted to meet Zoe and Dale and follow their journey in love.

A real strength of this series is the family aspect. Zoe is one of the Sutherland sisters, and Dale one of the Cavallo brothers. In the first book, Touched to the Heart, these two families are united by one of the Cavallo brothers and one of the Sutherland sisters falling in love. Which leaves the other Cavallo and Sutherlands in close proximity to each other, and fighting their feelings!

I love that we see the characters of Touched to the Heartin this book, both those who’ve already found love and those who are yet resisting it; it was like visiting with old friends. I especially love how the sisters and brothers contrast; they each have their own foibles and flaws and drivers, and are quite different in outlooks and personalities, which makes for interesting reading.

I must especially mention the Sutherland mother – a romance novelist with a passion for happy-ever-afters. I love her character the most; she reminds me of myself.

In this book, I found the story really compelling. We launch straight in with smouldering attraction between Zoe and Dale, but both are determined to resist the other, due to deep-seated trust issues. The chemistry between them is fiery and vivid, and I was soon rooting for them to find away to be together.

A dramatic incident breaks down the wall between them, but it is too easy to erect it once more. Ultimately, the characters must let go of their inner demons before they can be truly ‘touched to the soul’.

Speaking of soul, there is so much in the setting as well. I really enjoy learning a little about this part of the world, and imagining the characters living there; it makes a refreshing change to visit South Africa.

The wonderful ending left me happy and smiling – and eager for the next book. As I read, I kept wondering about the other Sutherland sister, who appears to be in the midst of some kind of ominous drama we don’t fully understand. I am very keen to read her side of the story next.

In all, a fabulously passionate, evocative read, with loveable characters, a true-to-life story and all the drama, emotion and smouldering tension one could wish for in a romance novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. There was an immediate attraction between the Zoe and Dale, at Zoe's sister's wedding. Dale needed more, so he hired Zoe to revamp his hotels, Dale is only interested in one night stands but Zoe might just change his mind. The problem lays that Zoe does not believe in happily ever after, so can Dale change her mind.

Their sexual chemistry is hot, loved the little black panties. Zoe's mom is a hoot, a romance writer. She had me laughing out loud. Lot's of family drama, can't wait to read more about the siblings. This is the first book in the series and can't wait to read more.

An Impossible Attraction by Elsa Winckler
He was Mr. Wrong until he did everything right.
When Interior Decorator Zoe Sutherland is offered the career-building opportunity of a life time – working on super star architect David Cavallo’s glamorous new hotel – she’s thrilled…until she meets David.
David’s life is his career. He enjoys women, but has a love ’em and leave ’em attitude, which has worked until Zoe. She fires up more than his libido and one night of loving is not nearly enough. He wants more. That she might be out to steal the plans of his more daring project to date, has him thinking that perhaps he should keep this potential enemy even closer…in his bed.
This is Zoe Sutherland and David Cavallo's story.
“Thank you for the offer, but I decline,” Zoe said, trying to ignore the quivering in her stomach. Why the blasted man always had this effect on her, even over the phone, she didn’t know, but it was driving her crazy.
It was early December and she still had a lot of work to finish before the Christmas break. The last thing she had time for was talking to Dale Cavallo. She’d been working since early this morning and had been sending out quotes when his call came through and now she had to waste precious minutes with him.
“You don’t think your reaction is a tad childish?” Dale’s voice filled her ear, sending a tremble down her spine as it always did.
“Yeah, probably after she realized she won’t be able to wrap me around her little finger.”
David slapped him on the back. “Sounds to me like that’s exactly what she’s been doing!” He grinned as he left the office Scowling, Dale stared after his brother. Damn it, he had to get this bloody woman out of his mind. He still remembered in vivid detail how she’d looked when she ripped into Don last week. Her sapphire eyes had been spitting fire.
That was the reason he’d ignored her for the rest of the day. Because speaking to her meant he had to look at her. And every time his eyes met hers, all he wanted to do was cart her off to the nearest bed. So, instead of being friendly, he’d behaved like an insufferable fool.

Zoe and Dale were meant to be together. It just took some time, and a little nudge from some family members, for them to figure it out.

They shared a dance and a kiss when Zoe’s sister married Dale’s brother. It was enough to make sparks fly. But, Zoe didn’t trust men and she would never date Dale. So, how could she have gotten caught up in the moment? Dale was a rich man with a reputation of dating women and then dumping them when he got bored with them. Ever since that kiss, Dale couldn’t get Zoe out of his mind and he was willing to do anything to have her as his own.

This was a fun book to read. I could feel the tension between Zoe and Dale from the start. But, when they got together, look out! They were a steamy couple. I enjoyed the family drama in the book too. There were quite a few characters in this book as both families have lots of siblings, but they didn’t confuse me while reading the book like I have experienced in the past. I really liked Zoe’s mother too. She was a hoot. I just wish the ending had been written out with a little more detail. It felt rushed and I really would have loved seeing Zoe and Dale come together on their own terms. This book is part of a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone.

Set in and around Cape Town, An Impossible Attraction is Elsa Winckler’s latest story and the first in her new Cavallo Brothers series. For me, the gorgeous settings made this story special, possibly because I used to live there decades ago and I could easily imagine the stunning botanical gardens, the quaint Cape Dutch cottages in Stellenbosch and the rather more grand houses of Hermanus.
This story is very much on the steamy side with both Zoe and Dale suffering from a strong sexual pull towards each other that they find hard to resist from the first. Cue black panties sneaked into Dale’s pocket and you get the picture. It flows well and makes for an entertaining, though perhaps not entirely spectacular read. I did read it cover to cover in an afternoon, but to be honest that was a little more because I had to rest than because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Largely that was pretty obvious and perhaps that was my problem. Overall though this was an enjoyable story and I do look forward to the next book in the series.

Zoe and Dale fight their attraction vehemently. It causes a lot of conflict, some laughs, and sparks to fly like an electrical storm. The chemistry between them is hot but there is just too much keeping them apart.

At first, I wasn't that fond of Dale. I don't like a bossy man, but I soon realised that it was a cover-up for his deep feelings. Zoe is a strong-minded woman who knows what she wants, well, to a degree. She doesn't realise how much she wants Dale.

This romance is hot! The chemistry between the couple combustible and the sex scenes are always packed with deep feeling. It's a story of love at first sight - in denial - an interesting twist.

There's a little bit of suspense sprinkled into the book and I'm keen to read Hannah's story to find out what's going on.

My favourite character is Zoe's mother. She's a hoot.

So we have the start of a new series. We meet Zoe was young and and way person due to some past issue so she was a little bitter and not in any rush to get into a relationship especially not with rich playboy Dale. Dale also had a past relationship that left him gun shy but he can not get Zoe out of his mind, so even though they fight there chemistry, eventually they give in and that my friends is when the story begins. It was cute enough to pass the time.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

Another good romance read from the pen of one of South Africa's best romance writers. Elsa Winckler writes romance with substance and although this is not my usual choice of book anymore, I thoroughly enjoyed it and all her other books as well.

Interior Decorator Zoe Sutherland gets the dream job to work on super star architect David Cavallo’s glamorous new hotel. She is in seventh heaven until she meets David. He is attractive and sexy, but he is also the most arrogant and mysterious man she's ever met. From the beginning they bump heads about almost every aspect of the work and he also tries to make her see that all work and no play makes you a dull girl.

But the David meets his match in Zoe, and his previous motto about love them and leave them bites him in the backside. He also does not know if he can trust Zoe with his more daring project to date. So he decides to keep his enemy very very close.

I enjoyed this read a lot, even though one knows that all will end well.

Thank you #Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this

This is Zoe and Dale’s story it was instant attraction when Dale first saw Zoe. Then the kiss at his brother/ her sisters wedding. He hired her company for a decorating job when she was away and now she is back and sparks are flying.
Follow that by a disagreement between the two which is short lived when Zoe is attacked.

Having fallen in love with Don in the previous book, it was tough to fall for his brother this time. Both books are well written, good stories and alight with chemistry, but it's still Don for me. Looking forward to the other sister's book, now...

An impossible attraction is between Zoe and Dale. Her sister and his brother just got married and now they are spending time together. The problem? The attraction between them is insane but she has daddy issues and he is the ultimate playboy.

They fight it but it’s eventually hard to resist and end up in bed together. It’s a cute story but I felt like the build up lacked a little. All in all it was a decent book.

An Impossible Attraction

I thought it was a fun tool using the mom, a romance writer, to move a few things along. As someone who also found her soulmate of now almost 50 years, I found at least 4 thoughts her main characters had that were particularly succinct and pure genius to be able to put it into words. " Her soul had recognize him as THE ONE long before she was able to connect all the dots. " And I love this one. " She'd somehow reached into my soul and rearranged my wiring. I need her to be able to function properly. " Beautiful, genius writing especially if you are lucky enough to find your soulmate!

We first met Zoe and Dale at his brother’s and her sister’s wedding uniting two unique, tension-filled families and their friends into one volatile combination. To say that either Dale or Zoe were smokin’ hot with sizzling chemistry from the beginning would be an understatement. Yet there is more beneath their almost instant lust-filled attraction to each other – there is distrust, some family issues that have been resolved but still linger in some minds and such stubbornness. I swear, these two would argue the exact color of their own eyes.

On the surface, it would be easy to dislike Dale based on his love ’em and leave ’em lifestyle, his arrogance and don’t forget the stubbornness. When things don’t go according to his wishes Dale is not above moving the playing pieces around to suit his own purpose, not really acknowledging or caring that these are real people’s lives and livelihood he’s messing with. On the flipside of that is the slowly disclosed fact that Dale is utterly stunned to his core at his reactions to Zoe, far beyond her beauty and sexiness but for the woman who smells like rain and ties him up in a knot every time she’s near.

Zoe’s not faring much better, on top of the leftover anger and mistrust of his brother’s suspected actions, she’s also fighting a very strong physical attraction to a man who infuriates her at his every move. Her best bet is to stay far, far away from the arrogant and tempting Cavallo brother – but he’s not above making that impossible to do.

AN IMPOSSIBLE ATTRACTION is an intense, enjoyable romance with sizzle, snark, bantering, a puzzle to solve and characters who will grab your attention (one way or another) throughout Zoe and Dale’s story. Dale’s brothers only add to the mix with the tease of that mystery as to why one brother is so set against his new in-law family… hmm, we shall see soon on that one, I hope.

I enjoyed myself, I had fun and that’s the whole point. Looking forward to the next romance in line.

Awesome. The whole situation is fun to see come together. I can't wait for the next book not everything is settled and I still have plenty of questions for one of the side characters, but I believe in the next one that she will be one of the main main characters and my questions will be answered. Can't wait.

Setting is in South Africa, Southerland sisters falling in love with Cavallo brothers.
Zoe is up and coming interior designer and she has an incredible opportunity to design famous boutique hotels until she finds out it is David Cavallo. He is famous architect and it could more her career if she decides to work with him. But she couldn't stand him yet she is attracted to him nonetheless. While she was at her sister's wedding ( her older sister is marrying David's older brother), he kissed her and it is driving her crazy so she decides to turn the offer down and goes to England to not face him again.
When she comes back, her contract was signed and she has no choice other than to work with David. Now they will have to work together and sparks are flying.
This could be standalone. It is perfect short for summer.

An Impossible Attraction - 4 STARS
A Cavallo Brothers Romance
Author : Elsa Winckler

ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Opinions expressed are my own ...

Attractive Cover & Book Blurb caught my eye !

Zoe Sutherland is a interior decorator looking to grow her business and further her career. Dale Cavallo is an award winning architect - both have some serious trust issues. So when the opportunity comes for Zoe to handle all the interior design & decorating for Dale’s new hotel chain she turns down the opportunity - not looking to get involved with someone she sees as nothing more than a playboy. The sexual chemistry between these (2) is pretty immediate ! Neither of them are ready to risk their hearts however ...

Great story - glad these (2) overcame their trust issues to find their HEA !
Quick romantic read does not disappoint !!

Zoe and Dale did not hit it off at first sight. Her sister is marrying his brother so this could be a problem in the future. They have a moment at the wedding... or was that the alcohol talking. Now he can't get her out of his mind and she wants nothing to do with him. He hires her firm to decorate his new hotel just so he can spend time with her. His micro managing is too much for Zoe to handle. She is a strong independent woman who does not need her hand held to do her job. In this story it is Zoe who does not believe in happily ever after. Can Dale convince her that he is worth taking a chance on? Good read.

Zap,Crackle, Pop! Instant Chemistry! This book sizzles that is for sure! Fancy a shag at a wedding? How about one of the bridesmaids and a groomsmen's hooking up for one quickie? That happens all the time right but then if they are related to the bride and groom who got married...
Zoe Sutherland is an Interior Decorator and own her own company. David Cavallo and his brothers own a ton of hotels and he hired Zoe to decorate the hotel well he tried too. This is one of those books that has chemistry so sizzling and romance too. Can't wait for the other brothers to get their stories.

Zoe never stays in a relationship too long for fear of the man walking out on her. Dale always has a pretty girl in tow. Zoe's sister is married to Dale's brother and they keep meeting up at family events. At the wedding they share a kiss and suddenly Dale is constantly thinking of Zoe. Organising for her to decorate one of his hotels in England, gets her out of his space for a while. Then she is back and they have to figure it out. Thoroughly enjoyed this romance set in South Africa and the Seychelles.

I have to say right off the bat that this novel ahs some sizzling scenes. They completely play into the ambivalent feelings that Zoe Sutherland and Dale Cavallo have for each other. The more they tell themselves, “No Way” the harder it gets to avoid the simmering underneath.
The book moves fast and has some mysterious elements to boot. I cannot wait the forth next Cavallo Brothers book to arrive!
