Daphne and Amber Parrish are thrust back into each other’s lives upon the resurgence of a long-forgotten threat, forcing a vicious game of cat and mouse where everything is on the line, in this thrilling sequel to the million-copy-bestselling Reese’s Book Club pick The Last Mrs. Parrish.

Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.

Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson Parrish, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer to allow him supervised visits. Once out of prison, Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he can’t be trusted.

When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, the three of them find unlikely allies in one another, but who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.

With shocking turns and entertaining characters, The Next Mrs. Parrish will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about duplicity and betrayal.

Well, I'm addressing the elephant in the room before starting my review (and no, I'm not talking about my husband watching soccer in our living room—he's more like a Teddy bear than an elephant). Many readers might think "The Last Mrs. Parrish" was a complex, argumentative thriller with mixed reviews, and the main characters were honestly detestable enough to rub anyone the wrong way. So, why did the queens of domestic thrillers decide to go for a sequel, and why should readers give those very unlikable characters another chance?

Here's my answer: I was one of the reviewers who had hard feelings about the first book. My criticism wasn't solely focused on the first book's longevity, with a bit of boring, dragged-out chapters, including lengthy dialogues between characters without any incidents occurring or the characters' high level of despicability. The message that you get what you deserve, initiated with domestic violence, truly irritated me, even though it happened to the most cunning femme fatale in the fictional world. That's why I had second thoughts about the sequel, just like most readers might have. But I always have faith in this smart thriller duo, and this new book proved me right.

I think you should definitely read this thriller that I was so close to giving five stars. However, I still lowered my grade because of the hate I have for Jackson and Amber's characters. Each time their characters appeared, I felt my facial expression change in disgust, and I couldn't help myself—they are created to be the worst kind of human disposables. Anyway, let's stick to the point: this book is intelligently written, well-balanced, a twisty domestic thriller with powerful mind games that shock you at each progress. Luckily, we have not only Daphne, who may be the only likable character from the first book but also Daisy Ann, another vindictive Texan woman seeking justice. She is the character we can root for. I wish her involvement in the big scheming game could be a little sooner, but the authors first gave a summary of the events of the first book and showed us how the characters moved on with their lives.

Another thing I enjoyed in this book was that there were no repetitive, long dragged-out parts in this new sequel. Everything sticks to the point. The pacing is riveting and intriguing. The twists are unpredictable and smart. You keep crossing your fingers, hoping the beasts don't win the long game, biting your nails to the bit after devouring an entire bowl of popcorn (three times at least). The anticipation gets higher as you find yourself screaming for justice!

And the ending is so delicious that it makes you have loud, villainous laughs! So, my friends, don't have second thoughts. If you have negative thoughts about the first book, just like me, forget about it and give this sequel a chance because it's really good, gripping, riveting, stimulating, keeping you on your toes! And it's really smart, well-developed, and greatly executed!

Here's a recap of the plot: After sending her husband to prison for tax evasion, Amber Patterson Parrish (even though this is not her real name) perfectly built a life in Bishops Harbor as the new Mrs. Parrish. But her newly freed, bird-like lifestyle slowly crumbles because she needs more funds, and the government took away most of her dearest abusive husband's assets. She has to find other sources and leave the scene before her husband's release from prison. Thankfully, Jackson, the husband of the century, directs her to a yacht where she finds a secret treasure that may help her build a new life in a European country with a new identity.

Unfortunately, her detailed plan fails when her husband is released earlier from his cage, coming up with a plan they can both benefit from before parting ways. Jackson is adamant about deceiving Daphne, making her believe he's a changed man to take him back, and Amber needs to get her revenge on a woman who was publicly humiliated by a ghost from her past: Daisy Ann, the daughter of her first husband she killed and got away with.

They both decide to scratch each other's back and help their schemes work perfectly to get what they want.

After her daughter Tallulah's attempts to escape to see her father, Daphne reluctantly leaves California alongside her two daughters to rent a place in Bishops Harbor she never intended to return to. She already agrees to let her daughters spend limited, supervised time with their fathers for only two months. Could Jackson find a way to get back into her life? What kind of danger awaits Daphne by stepping into the minefield she escaped before?

Well, as I said before, this is a gripping, well-written domestic/psychological thriller with a satisfying outcome that I can honestly recommend.

Imagine my surprise when I saw there was a sequel to one of my favorite books ever!! Picture me jumping for joy when I was approved for an ARC of The Next Mrs. Parrish!! Once again, my favorite writing duo did not disappoint with this follow up to The Last Mrs. Parrish. Was this book really necessary? Probably not. But was it twisty and entertaining? Most definitely!

In this sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish, Amber is back and she is more conniving and despicable as ever! Amber is currently married to the wealthy Jackson Parrish, who had to serve time in prison for his tax fraud. They share a son together, which they call Jax.

Daphne, the former Mrs. Parrish, comes back to the town of Bishops Harbor after moving herself and her two daughters away to California. Her oldest daughter, Tallulah is missing her father immensely, and against her better judgment she agrees to take this trip to Bishops Harbor to let her daughters see Jackson. Has Jackson really changed since he’s been in prison, or is he the same con artist he’s always been? Does he have it in him to be a loving husband and father to his current wife and children?

We also have the new character of Daisy Ann. Daisy Ann runs a famous jewelry line in which Amber is certain to take over. I wasn’t quite sure how well Daisy’s character was going to work in this story, but in the end it all wrapped up nicely and she ended up being a great addition to the story.

While I can’t say that I loved this book as much as the first book, I will say that it is a close second 😉 This book can also be read as a standalone, which is a great bonus for those who haven’t read the first book. This book is filled with characters that you will love to hate, twists and turns, and lots of entertainment. I highly recommend!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and the authors for an ARC of this book which I had the pleasure of reading. Publication date: June 18, 2024.

After what felt like forever, Liv is back with another thrilling book! The wait was totally worth it. In this gripping sequel, we meet Amber, Daphne, and Daisy Ann—three fascinating characters you won't forget.

Amber is cunning and super confident, Daphne is trying to move on from her past, and Daisy Ann is on a mission to get justice for her late father. Their stories intertwine in the most unexpected and brilliant ways. The plot is so creative and binge-worthy that you won't be able to put it down.

The ending? Absolutely fantastic! Everything ties together perfectly, leaving you completely satisfied.

Big thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for letting me read and review this advance copy. If you're looking for a great read, this book is a must!

This sequel was not needed but exceeded well in raising my blood pressure!

The gang from The Last Mrs. Parrish have returned once again to piss us all the way off with their barbaric shenanigans. In this sequel we have Amber continuing with her psychotic ways and Jackson the pleb working alongside her to cause more havoc in Daphne and the kids life. A new addition Daisy Ann is also introduced to get revenge on Amber, who was accused of k!lling her dad.

Ok so for about a good 80% of the book I was engrossed and shouting expletives anytime Amber and Jackson opened their stinky foul mouths. Those two stayed in character and it was evident this was not a sequel about those two trying to right their wrongs. They are poison to the bone and there’s no changing them. Daphne to be honest had me raging too because are you purposely trying to be a fool!? STAND UP!!!!!! And don’t get me started on young Tallulah, that attitude of hers grated on my last nerves and would have me booking a one way ticket straight to boarding school! I enjoyed the addition of Daisy Ann but after a while even her chapters were starting to bore me.

⋆。°✩WHAT I LIKED⋆。°✩
➽ The POVS from Daphne, Amber and Daisy Ann
➽ Easy to read and engaging.
➽ Short chapters
➽ Insufferable characters you love to hate

⋆。°✩WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE⋆。°✩
➽ Started to feel a bit drawn out
➽ Quite a few eye roll galore and cringe moments
➽ Not as thrilling and suspenseful as the first book
➽ No character development

Again, I don’t think the sequel was needed as it just regurgitated on old wounds and the same characters being their same self. There was no real character development in my eyes and nothing truly exciting happened enough for me to feel this second book was warranted. There was no real twists and it ended as expected. The book will def test your emotions. I didn’t hate it but I also didn’t need it if that makes sense? If you enjoy Popcorn Thrillers with a darker undertone, then you will probably enjoy this.

3.5 ⭐

It’s never too late to put out a sequel!

Being as the first book was released in 2017 and I have absolutely no memory of it other than I enjoyed it😂. For me, this read like a stand-alone and that worked just fine!

Amber, Daphne and Jackson make up a very dangerous trio.

Daphne is the former Mrs. Parrish, living or should I say hiding across country from her ex-husband and father of her two children. But circumstances are going to bring her and the children back into the ex’s orbit.

Amber, the current Mrs. Parrish is wanting OUT! Putting her master-plan into action, she’s set to leave Jackson behind but still maintain the lavish lifestyle she has grown accustomed to. Well Amber, you know what they say about best laid plans…

Jackson, is approaching his release from prison. He’s primed and ready to once again be King and take charge of his family and fortune.

Who’s going to get what they want? Anybody? Who gets left in the dust?

This was such a fun, entertaining romp, watching the three characters play off each other, like fire and ice!

If you haven’t yet read the first in the series, The Last Mrs. Parrish, though not necessary I would still suggest starting there. I think it would elevate your experience with this book that much more.

While you might have an inkling to the premise behind Liv Constantine’s newest novel, I still recommend going into this one 100% blind. Even though the synopsis doesn’t exactly give anything away, not having a clue where the plot was headed only added to my enjoyment. If, however, you’re one of THOSE people and need the promised blurb no matter what, just skip down to the end of this review where you’ll find it in full…

OHHEMMGEE! How is it possible that The Next Mrs. Parrish was even better than the first book in this dynamite series? From the rich people behaving badly vibe to the thoroughly despicable characters, everything from The Last Mrs. Parrish was merely taken up a notch to glorious perfection. Despite both books being two of my favorites, where the first one was a slow burn demonstration of psychological terror, the sequel was a fast-paced game of cat-and-mouse that turned Amber, Daphne, and Jackson up to eleven. Needless to say, it really couldn’t have been better.

Speaking of the characters, I was overjoyed to get not only Amber and Daphne’s perspectives, but a third intriguing POV which was linked to Amber’s delectable backstory. Throughout the back-and-forth antics of con artist and victim(s), the dynamic was undeniably everything I wanted and more. Underhanded actions. Manipulative behavior. Gaslighting to the extreme. All of the above thoroughly riled me up. But then, only the best of the best can manage to make you feel all of the feels. And let me tell you, I seriously had steam coming out of my ears.

The plot, as I’ve already stated, was fast and furious as traps, plots, and schemes unfurled left and right. Living up to my expectations and then some, there wasn’t a shot of me guessing where this crazy train was headed. With twist after twist shifting the storyline away from the obvious, the final timely reveal—or should I say…reveals—literally had me pumping my fist and shouting “YES!” at the top of my lungs. And that last page? All I can say is that it was simply sublime.

Done and dusted, I’m just praying that the Constantine sisters have a third book to this series in them somewhere. Deliciously twisted and packed with plenty of villains, the newest peek into the devilishly talented minds of this writing duo was a smashing success. Binge-worthy and addictive, the whip-cracking plot was stuffed to the gills with non-stop suspense. From the well-hidden secrets to the dastardly betrayals and devious lies, come one come all, you’re not going to want to miss a minute with Daphne, Jackson, or Amber. Trust me on this. Rating of 5 stars.

Thank you to Liv Constantine and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine/Bantam for my complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

PUB DATE: Out today!

Trigger warning: getting drugged, custody dispute, gaslighting, domestic violence

As promised above, here’s the publisher provided synopsis:

Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way. Hard work and immaculate planning turned her from invisible wallflower to prominent socialite, though there have been bumps along the way. Less than a year after her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber reigns supreme over the Bishops Harbor community. But with Jackson being released from prison, Amber’s free time—and money—is vanishing.

Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer for their daughters’ sake. Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he can’t be trusted.

When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, these three figures find unlikely allies in one another. But who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.

Some sequels should never be written, and this is a prime example.

First, in order to accept this premise, you must accept a woman who is dumber than a box of rocks. Matter of fact, she’s so stupid that comparing her to a box of rocks is insulting to the rocks.

I realize characters often do dumb things to move a plot forward but there is a tipping point.

If you accept the premise, you then have to constantly suspend disbelief and somehow stop your eyes from rolling out of your head as you read. I’d give examples but I don’t want to ruin anyone’s reading pleasure if you still want to read it.

I enjoyed book #1 so I gave it a very generous extra star.

say what you want about these books, but they are FUN.

fun fact, THE LAST MRS PARRISH was one of my favorite thrillers back when it released in 2017. (OMG i feel old now). i was delighted to hear they were making a sequel 7+ years later, i low key loved those toxic characters! their behavior was so shocking and i had my mouth dropped half the book.

fans of TLMP like me will be happy to hear THE NEXT MRS PARRISH gives nearly identical vibes of the toxic characters, cunning/gaslighting vibes and multiple POVs with everyone having secrets and looking out for themselves! it was so much fun being back in their world. the multiple POVs are a blast bc you don’t know who is playing who. and we get introduced to a new character here, Daisy Ann.

i’ll save more for my in depth review, but if you’re looking for a domestic suspense with secrets, backstabbing, conspiring/planning and shocking behaviors, this is for you! it was a really fun binge and i was really enjoying being back in Bishop Harbor.

sometimes the author’s writing style can be hit or miss for me but it was good here. some paragraphs are cringe but i think that’s more bc of the characters and their personalities/actions. also by no means in this review do i wish to glorify the gaslighting or mental/physical abuse in these books. please beware of trigger warnings there.

pro tip—while this story can be read as a standalone and the authors do a good job of reminding you on what happened in book 1 if you forgot, it’ll be a more enjoyable read if you read THE LAST MRS PARRISH first. there’s also a novella THE FIRST SHOT that you can read first but it’s not necessary (i personally didn’t enjoy that one at all).

full review (and maybe a giveaway 😏😏) to come closer to pub day on my IG! thanks to Randomhouse for the early gifted copy.

PS this ends in a way that the story could keep going with a book 3 👀👀👀

PSS im still waiting for more 🎬 news here!! maybe the sequel will give it a push 🤞🏼 it would play out so well on the big screen!

This was one wild ride!! I loved this just as much as the first book…and I didn’t think that would be possible! The dynamics were fantastic!! Rich people behaving badly?? Umm yes please!! 🙋‍♀️This game of cat and mouse of who can outsmart who… left me speechless. 😂 They were SO terrible!! 😳 The only person not behaving badly… as usual was Daphne 😇 The first Mrs. Parrish.

SO I absolutely loved how this ended. 😍😳🤯 I mean can we pleasseee have another book?!! Look guys this can be totally read as a standalone!! However the first book and the prequel are excellent!! Get on this Mrs. Parrish crazy train 🚂!!

**Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House-Ballantine, and Liv Constantine for an ARC of this book!**

"Revenge is sweet and not fattening" - Alfred Hitchcock

Amber Patterson Parrish planned EVERYTHING out when she decided she would stop at nothing to become the wife of wealthy Jackson Parrish...except what she would do when he got out of prison, that is. Amber's scheme (detailed in the first book of this series, The Last Mrs. Parrish) involved leaving her questionable past behind, sidling up to Mr. Moneybags, earning his trust and his love...and then getting him locked up for tax evasion and enjoying a lavish lifestyle on her own, scot-free. After all, when it comes to love or money? It's ALWAYS been an easy choice for Amber. But as Jackson's bank account dwindles and the clock continues to tick, panic sets in. Will Amber's social standing in Bishop's Harbor and the life that has become second nature to her be ripped away when her 'Darling' Husband returns... with his own axe to grind?

Meanwhile, Jackson's first wife Daphne has her own connections to Jackson that keep her tied to her horrifying past...her beautiful daughters. She too knows that Jackson's time in prison is coming to an end, and although she vowed to keep her life as separate from Jackson as possible, her children miss their dad and beg for the chance to spend some time with him upon his release. Daphne is more than a bit reluctant, with memories of the verbal, mental, and physical abuse her family endured still fresh in her mind, but she feels she cannot deny her kids the opportunity to see their dad, so she gives in. But once she spends some time around Jackson he APPEARS to be a changed man...and wants to lure Daphne back into his bed. Will her dark and disturbing relationship past be enough to keep her away from Jackson's arms...or could she fall BACK under his spell?

And then there's Daisy Ann, a woman out seeking revenge of her own...for the murder of her late father. Daisy is a successful business owner now, but she hasn't been able to overcome the loss of her beloved dad...and KNOWS in her gut that his 'accidental' hunting death was far from an accident. Though the evidence has never emerged to prove anything conclusively, Daisy Ann hasn't given up hope that all will be revealed and the party who is TRULY responsible will be brought to justice. And it just so happens that this woman MAY be incredibly wealthy and prominent in Bishop's Harbor...at least, for now. When this suspect ends up poised to take away Daisy's company, WHO will end up with the spoils? Will Jackson's release allow him to FINALLY catch up with BOTH of his 'loves'...and will he finally get the chance for revenge HE has been craving? Or does Amber have ONE final trick (or perhaps, rare and expensive diamond 💎) up her sleeve that will secure her wealthy future...forever?

I think it's fair to say that although The Last Mrs. Parrishhas been far and away Liv Constantine's most popular book, with a Reese's Book Club nod, film rights snapped up by Netflix (after an earlier planned TV adaptation was scrapped), sisters Valerie and Lynne (better known by their collective pen name, Liv Constantine) hadn't anticipated their cat and mouse thriller about a scrappy and sneaky young woman who plans to steal a wealthy man away from his wife and become a socialite herself to NEED any sort of continuation. After all, the first book in this series came out in 2017 (!) and having moved on to several stand alone thrillers since then, I figured that Amber and Daphne's story had reached a fun, popcorn worthy conclusion, and that was that.

But as Lenny Kravitz is quick to remind us...it ain't over till it's OVER. And in the case of Daphne and Amber, much to my own surprise, I was THRILLED to discover that their cat and mouse tale was FAR from finished...and that the presence of a new player would up the ante like NOTHING I'd read before! 🃏

Okay, okay, so at its heart...this is STILL 100% a popcorn thriller. 🍿 I'm not going to pretend that enjoying this book doesn't require the following:

a) willing suspension of belief
b) capacity to handle reading toxic characters (and sometimes even having empathy for said characters)
c) a dose of patience to get you through the slower (and occasionally repetitive) portions

BUT if you have those qualities and want to dive into a beachy, salacious, sneaky, and occasionally twisty domestic suspense read...this IS your kind of book. As much as I sometimes tire of the 'rich people behaving badly' trope, for some reason when it came to Jackson and Amber in this book and its predecessor? It just didn't bother me. While Daisy Ann might not have been the most scintillating character to read, particularly in her early chapters, the Sisters Constantine never force you to plow through TOO much of any one character's thoughts in her books. The plot is convoluted enough to be interesting but straightforward enough to follow even if you're watching the kids over the top rim of the book while relaxing by the pool. (Not speaking from personal experience this time...but can you tell I'm jonesing for my first poolside read? 😏) The short chapters certainly aid with pacing, and one of the best things about this level of popcorn thriller is that while you CAN think long and hard about what could happen?

It is FAR more exciting to do exactly what you do at the beach: switch your brain to a 'lower' setting and just BE.

Did I want to find out what was going to happen? Sure. But I think why this book was such a relief for me mentally when I read it was that I didn't fixate too hard or speculate too intensely about ANYTHING, and to be honest, that's what made it a better read for me. While I enjoy Liv Constantine, I rarely go into their books expecting to be blown away or looking for the twist that reads like no other. The fact that these authors even waited so long to dive back into these stories sort of says it all: the original story didn't NEED a sequel....but like eating that last Milano in the wrapper just so you can throw out the little paper and that last cookie won't be lonely...it didn't HURT anything and it was ABSOLUTELY satisfying! 🍪

And you know how sometimes you see the calorie count on a menu for a really decadent dessert, know it's probably the worst thing you can do for yourself while generally trying to be healthy, and you know you don't need it whatsoever...but you just can't HELP but order it and then you're secretly SO glad you did?

Let's just say the revenge in THIS book? Is twice as sweet and decadent...and as Hitchcock so wisely noted, isn't fattening at all.

😉 🍴

I missed some of the characters from the Mrs. Parrish series written by Liv Constantine. Daphne and Amber, two strong but flawed women who fight for what they want and sometimes go way too far. Add in their common (ex)-husband, and you've got a lot of of drama. Amber is terrible. Daphne is lovely but even she had some moments. Toss in the new main character, Daisy Ann, and you've got a multi-dimensional cast. Suspenseful... so many times I couldn't tell who would one-up the other. I had to read the ending twice to figure out all the connections. Glad to see it come to a conclusion tho!

Some of the characters in this book were too awful for words, and I had a hard time believing Jackson’s motives. It maintains soap opera-y tension as the characters all did their best to be horrible to each other and the poor small children caught in their lies and machinations.

3⭐
Genre ~ psychological fiction
Series ~ Mrs. Parrish #2
Others in the series ~ The Last Mrs. Parrish
Setting ~ Connecticut & Texas
Publication date ~ June 18, 2024
Est Page Count ~ 336 (57 chapters)
Audio length ~ 12 hours
Narrators ~ Raquel Beattie, Scott Brick, Suzanne Elise Freeman, Erin Bennett
POV ~ single 1st & multiple 3rd
Featuring ~ unlikable characters, manipulation

Amber is married to Jackson and their parts are told in the 3rd person. They are truly AWFUL people and probably the most unlikable I have ever read. She's a gold digger that thinks everything should be just given to her. He's a manipulator that thinks he's the cats meow. It was kinda fun watching them try to one up each other and I was rooting for the demise of both of them equally.

Daphne is the former Mrs. Parrish, mother to Jackson's daughters, and her parts are told in 1st, present tense. She doesn't make the best choices. The 13 year old daughter, Tallulah, was pretty unbearable for most of the book.

We hear from Daisy Ann from Texas in the 3rd and her obsession with bringing down the person that killed her father 3 years ago. Even though she was a little much with said obsession I liked her character the most.

These rich people know how to waste the moolah. Even if I was a bazillionaire I would never spend $3k a night on a hotel suite. Don't get me started on all her other dumb purchases.

I was originally going to give this 4 stars, but the more I thought about it the more I really hated just about every character at one point or another. Despite a slow start I still liked it well enough and thought the ending was perfect.

Series notes:
I read the 1st book back in 2021, so obviously I don't recall much. I didn't really feel lost, but I do think it's best to read them in order. Also, I didn't realize there was a prequel The First Shot that gives more background on Amber.

Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference. I am pleased to see there are multiple narrators, though.

I’m not quite sure how to rate this story as some aspects I liked and others I didn’t.

In what is now a series, I skipped the first book The Last Mrs. Parrish without feeling like I missed anything. The premise of this, The Next Mrs. Parrish, sounded like something I’d like and seemed even more promising after I started reading.

It had a ‘Sting’ like feel and I love a con story - especially when the recipients deserve their just deserts. The more convoluted, the better in my opinion.

What I didn’t care for were the copious descriptions during the first half detailing what people were wearing, the parties, the houses, and numerous other trivial details. I felt they didn’t add anything and in some cases were eye rolling.

The returning characters of Amber and Jackson were vile making me happy that I hadn't suffered them the first time around because by the end of this book, I’d more than enough.

While I like the writing duo of LIv Constantine and will look for their next one, I hope this is a wrap for the Parish novels.

How do I begin. Not all sequels work - Freida McFadden's The Housemaid and Nina Prose's The Maid series are two prime examples.
I loved the first book from Liv Constatntine - The Last Mrs. Parrish. I found it shocking, thrilling, and I rooted for Daphne to get away from these evil people - her abusive husband Jackson, and fake sociopath BFF Amber. When it ended, I thought that would be enough of these two.

Now that there is a sequel, I am disgusted by the characters.
When jackson gets out of prison after a seven month tax evasion sentencing, he comes back for Daphne with a vengeance. Amber, is still on the prowl, to find ways to destroy someone's life, whether it be Daphne, her two year old son Jax, she had with Jackson, WHOEVER it is, including Daisy Ann, in full Texas wealth as an heiress with a past connected to Amber.

Worse comes to worse, and for whatever reason, Daphne GOES BACK TO VISIT JACKSON. I couldn't believe it. While it happened obviously for the reader, there's no way in hell this could be a redeeming force for action. There's no mother out there that would actually think this was ok. All because her oldest daughter Tallulah was "acting out." Therapy and the truth doesn't seem to work for this confused family, and it sickened me to the core to see them reunite. Ugh.

By the middle, I could barely take it. The book had too many sociopaths and enablers. I wanted this book to be over, and hopefully this is the very LAST Parrish book we have to encounter, though something tells me readers who enjoy this series will want more.

Thanks Netgalley for my advanced copy!

Do yourself a favor and MAKE SURE you read The First Shot novella prior to reading this one. Okay, onto the review!!

If you’ve been following me for any length of time you know how much I LOVED The Last Mrs Parrish and I am so so thrilled that I got an early copy to the sequel. Thank you to the publisher!!!

This book lived up to my expectations and hopes and then surpassed them. I loved our three narrators and the different aspects of the story we gleaned from each of them. The writing was superb, as I’ve come to rely on these writers for. Fans of the first book will be very happy to see a sequel which is just as well done as the original.

Both the original book & this sequel will forever be in my list of top recommendations to give. The suspense they offer is like no other, and if you haven’t picked them up yet….what are you waiting for?

3.5 stars, rounded up for the satisfying resolution. Honestly, this one just got a little too OTT & melodramatic for me - and I seriously wanted to slap the crap outta both Daphne & her oldest kid, so, so much! What saved this one for me was the character of Daisy Ann & all the twists at the end. I also think this title would make a great Beach read for those readers into popcorn thrillers...

Liv Constantine's newest release, THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH is full on juicy fun. I was cautiously excited about reading this one because I do remember The Last Mrs. Parrish (book 1) and was concerned that this book wouldn't read well as as standalone. I can tell you right now that is definitely not something anyone should be worried about.

Daphne and Amber are back into each others' lives after one of Daphne's daughter runs away looking for her father, Jackson Parrish. Jackson and Daphne are divorced after she fled and Amber married him in a twist of a fate from Book 1. However, while Jackson is in prison, Amber is enjoying the wealth that being a Parrish brings. Jackson is a terrible human, both being involved in tax-evasion, but also as an abuser. When Daphne returns back to Bishops Harbor, she realizes that leaving this time might be more difficult. While Jackson swears that he's a changed man, Daphne knows that she should trust her gut. Amber, on the other hand, deals with someone from her past looking for revenge.

Liv Constantine always knows how to write a juicy over-the-top story. Reading THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH, it reminded me of how much Frieda McFadden's The Housemaid really took too much subject matter from Constantine's predecessor The Last Mrs. Parrish. If you like The Housemaid and the sequels, you MUST read this series. Also, if you're new to Liv Constantine, THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH can be easily read as a standalone. I can 100% confirm that because I forgot a lot of the ins and outs of it's previous installment and not only does Constantine weave in the story effortlessly, it fully revitalized parts of the book that I had forgotten. Both books are a lot of fun and have tons of juicy, soapy, chaos. Personally I love Daphne so much, but I also find Jackson to be such a chaotic, evil, and fun to watch (in the most f'd up of ways) character. I'd love to see these characters play out on the screen. Highly recommend that you pick up THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH!

The Next Mrs. Parrish is the sequel to the bestselling thriller, The Last Mrs. Parrish. While the latest novel could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the books in order. There was a prequel novella released in between the publications of the books, but I haven’t read it. I actually think that worked in my favor as it came off as a twist when I found out how a new character was connected to the story.

I’m going to avoid talking about spoilers so my apologies that this review is pretty vague. Now the good news is if you loved the first book, odds are you’ll enjoy the sequel as it’s fast-paced and a natural progression of the story. Unfortunately for me, I’ve had mixed feelings about both books. They are written to be entertaining popcorn thrillers but something about the tone is just off. Thrillers often contain disturbing content and to be frank, I usually don’t have a problem with it. But for some reason, I’m not able to fully enjoy the crazy ride when it comes to these two books. I guess in the back of my mind I keep thinking this ugly side of domestic life isn’t so detached from reality for some people and it leaves me uneasy.

I also struggled with one character’s consistently poor decisions. Sometimes you really do need to take the advice of experts instead of thinking you know best.

I didn’t dislike the book. I just wish I could have fully leaned into the sinister vibe of the story.

Thank you Bantam for sending me a free advance copy! All thoughts expressed are my honest opinion.

Daphne, Amber, and Jackson Parrish are back in this highly anticipated sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish. With Jackson being released from prison after his tax evasion charge, Amber is back to her scheming ways and to replenish her bank account. Daphne is far away from her ex-husband and his new wife with their two girls. But, when Daphne's daughter runs away from a school field trip to try to reconnect with her Dad; Daphne is forced to make a hard decision. Does she risk her relationship with her daughter by keeping her away from her Dad or does she agree to spend the summer back in Bishops Harbor?
One thing you can count on? The Parrish's are out for revenge and they will stop at nothing to get it.
Review:
I will start off by saying that I LOVED The Last Mrs. Parrish and I LOVED The Next Mrs. Parrish too! There is just something about these characters that pull you in. It is a dumpster fire that you simply cannot look away from! The backstabbing, the scheming, the gaslighting, the way that I hate these characters and want to yell at them for giving chances that shouldn't be given or for just being awful people! It is pure entertainment of rich people that use their power in corrupt ways and to control others. And although it is messy and none of it is ethical, you just simply cannot stop reading and wanting to know what they are going to come up with next. I really enjoyed my time reading this and am so sad that it is over. BUUUUTTT, The Next Mrs. Parrish is left open for maybe a third story?!?!?!?!? And, I absolutely would not be mad at that decision in the slightest!!!!
Please check your trigger warnings on the entire series. It does contain sensitive topics.
The Next Mrs. Parrish is out today, 6/18! Go pick up your copy, you won't want to miss this one!
Thank you to NetGalley, Liv Constantine, and Random House Publishing Group for this ARC of The Next Mrs. Parrish in exchange for an honest review!

Are you #TeamAmber or #TeamDaphne? This gripping saga continues involving betrayal, deception, and vengeance. Who will win this treacherous game of getting even before their world crashes down around them? Who is the cat and who is the mouse in this twisted tale? This thriller is intense and hooked me immediately. The conclusion left me breathless with every shocking twist and turn. I was definitely on the edge of my seat during every nail-biting moment. Thank you, NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for my copy.

I was pleasantly surprised to see another installment of this series because in all honesty, I feel like the first story wrapped up in a pretty satisfying way. I loved the first book as well as the short story prequel, so I was interested to check out this one too. I feel like this book had more of a family drama vibe than a thriller vibe (at least in comparison to the other books), but that might just be me. I also found the pacing to be quite slow (sometimes painfully), but ultimately, it did pick up around the halfway mark for me.

Overall, it was fine... Not really a needed sequel in my opinion. I think I would've preferred to read a brand new story from this author rather than this sequel. I did like though how it all came together in the end so I added a star for the resolution.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

INCREDIBLE!!!

I start by saying, please please read the prequel, The First Shot, before starting this. Everything will make so much more sense!

I don’t want to say too much since it’s book #2 and don’t want to accidentally give any spoilers, but let me just say if you loved the first book, you will love this one too!

Full of suspense, audible gasps, and the overall NEED to know what’s about to happen calls for a great read. It picks up perfectly from the first book, with little tidbits of information that I had forgotten about since reading the Last Mrs Parrish. Absolutely recommend this!

Thank you so much to Random House, NetGalley and Liv Constantine for the chance to read this eARC of the sequel to my all time favorite book!!

4.5 ,⭐⭐⭐⭐

Volvemos a reencontrarnos con Amber, Daphne y Jackson. La historia arranca unos años más tarde del fin de la primera historia.

Y sigue al puro estilo "rich people drama". A la trama se suma Daisy Ann que aparece del pasado de Amber.

Y oye ese final puede dar lugar a una tercera parte.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a little backlogged with my ARC’s but working diligently to get caught up. I was scared to read this book at first because I didn’t think it would live up the first one and I would be let down. I’m so glad that wasn’t the case! It was everything I hoped it would be and more! I really loved getting parts of the story from other characters points of views as well! If you like psychological thrillers, make sure you read the first book before, but definitely read this right after!

Yayyy! The b*tch we all love to hate is back and greedier than ever! When I got the approval from NetGalley for my advanced copy I literally did a happy dance and excitedly told my husband the good news. Because I've read a bajillion books in between The Last Mrs. Parrish and this one, I could not remember a single detail about the original other than I loved it and have recommended it to a whole lot of people so this was kind of like starting over for me. I was worried that it would take away from the book, but I am glad to announce that it did not!

While Amber's husband is sitting in his cell and they are getting closer to his release she is forming a plan on how to collect her millions and sail off into the sunset to live a luxurious life... without said husband. When she accidentally stumbles upon her opportunity it causes a domino affect which wrangles Jackson, Daphne (our queen), and newbie Daisy Ann into a whirlwind of cat and mouse. Who will come out on top and outsmart the other?

Ohhhh I love a domestic thriller with rich people behaving badly!!! Quite literally my favorite genre to read about and the good ones are getting harder to come by. Luckily, you can add this one to the good list!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing group for my copy!

I loved being able to get the ARC for this book! And the ending was definitely all that I was hoping for!

The book started off a little slower for my taste, I found myself looking what would be the new hook of the Mrs. Parrish saga. But, what helped balance the pace was the introduction of a new character, Daisy Ann. Her background story was so engaging and I kept wanting to find the ways it tied to Amber and Daphne. As for those two, it was fun being back with them again! Amber is so unlovable but so interesting. I hate her but it love her chapters!

The multiple POV was really engaging the twists after about 50% were shocking and the pace picked up majorly. It started to feel like every chapter had a bombshell moment! If you want something mysterious, if you like thrillers, if true crime is something you enjoy, you’ll love this one! Once you get into it, you won’t be able to put it down- I stayed up late to finish… I had to know how it ended!

After surviving a horrifically abusive marriage, Daphne and her girls are now safely ensconced on the opposite coast. But when her tween daughter attempts to run away to see her dad, a therapist recommends reinitiating contact with him, for the children’s sake. Daphne needs to keep her wits about her, because he wants her back…and she’s in serious danger of being caught in his crosshairs.

Oooooo, I don’t know about this one! The book itself is a great time, with an addictive, thrilling plot that turned it into a very quick read for me. But I kind of don’t like that this book put Daphne in danger again! She was so safe and happy at the end of the last book. I 100% do not believe that a therapist would encourage her to see Jackson again, even with safeguards in place. I was ultimately satisfied with the ending to this book, and all of the scheming and plotting is very fun, but Liv Constantine, why did you have to do this to my girl Daphne??

With a host of questionable characters, a murderer, a controlling abusive husband and an ex wife who wants to makes things right, this story takes us on a sinister and propulsive ride.

Could there be a better "villianess" than Amber Patterson Parrish, the social climbing second wife of Jackson Parrish. Daphne, wife number one has vowed to never return to Bishop's Harbor and to the world of Jackson, newly released from prison for tax evasion. However, her oldest daughter tries to run away to daddy dearest.

In an attempt to see a supposedly changed Jackson, Daphne decides to take their daughters to Bishop's Corner for the summer to be with their dad where she finds the promised changed Jackson has not changed at all.

Another woman Daisy Anne enters the fray and then it's game on as all of them scheme and try to "get" one another. The question is will the vile Amber get her due?

Exciting and fun, this story is a quick read and one that will have you scurrying through the pages to find out how all the lives will be resolved or will they?

Thank you to Liv Constantine, Bantan Books, and NetGalley for a copy of this story due out in June.
