Summary

When everyone is sleeping, he comes into their houses.

He takes one thing. A photo of their child.

A sinister thief on a power trip or something even darker and more sinister?

Detectives Jackman and Evans find themselves on the hunt for a highly unusual burglar who seemingly only steals photographs. But then, late one night, an elderly woman falls to her death after seeing someone in her home.

Did she really fall, or was she murdered?

And just how many mysterious intruders are there on the Fens?

With the body count rising, Jackman and Evans have their work cut out for them to track down the night thief - before it’s too late.

An excellent storyline

One of the best, this book is almost impossible to put down. A strong and thought provoking storyline combined with believable characters kept me listening until the satisfactory conclusion. I have found a compelling new (to me) author and can’t wait to listen to more.

More Joy Ellis for me

I really enjoyed this story; it flowed beautifully.
Richard Armitage really did the story justice he's a fantastic narrator.

Thus is my first Joy Ellis novel but I am definitely going to delve deeper into her work.

poor ending

4.5*

the ending let the overall story down, yet the plot was intriguing and maintained my interest.

it feels like it is symbolic to real life incidents

Great story and awesome narration

Richard Armitage has done an amazing job with this: many different characters and accents well reflected in his narration, paced just right to keep up the suspense. Good story, unexpected twists and turns, interesting issues to consider. Recommended.

Great story

I really enjoyed this book but it was spoiled a little due to the narrator’s rather implausible accents. A couple of the victims spoke with very unlikely upper class accents and I won’t even go into the dreadful Scottish accent!
Overall though it was a gripping story which tuned into my worst nightmare! I certainly wouldn’t want to listen to it in the middle of the night!!!

So sad to have finished the last in the series…

Such a brilliant detective series, going to really miss detectives Roman Jackman and Marie Evans, such fabulous characters brought wonderfully to life by the amazing Richard Armitage. Thank you Joy Ellis, please write more 🤞

Well written and interesting plot.

I found the character of Laura totally annoying, demonstrating such poor judgement as a psychologist she should be struck off. That's another way of saying this character was not well developed.
